BOSS is just the name of the tournament series. They have their regular Online Super Series (OSS), the smaller Mini Online Super Series (MOSS) and the larger Bigger Online Super Series (BOSS).
Playing 5/10/25, 5k+ stacks, I’m stuck pretty big, i get JQhh in the straddle, some limpers, I pop it to 150, the mega fish calls. Flop 9 10 K two clubs, I bet 175, he min clicks me. Omg omg it’s happening! I just call. Turn: brick, he bets 400, I CR to 1400. Everyone at the table knows I have it here, except the spot of course. He snap calls. Clean runout one time! River 10c. Puke. I check, he jams. Pretty easy fold. Its 99. Aghhgghh one card away from any easy 10k pot scooperoo, fml. Then he racks up with his 8k and the game breaks. Gahhh, so tilted
For this shove to make sense, you need the parlay of BB shoving with worse hands and the last player having hands that beat you that would call $115 but fold to a shove. There aren’t any hands you beat that you want to fold out. I’m not sure if it matters whether the player behind you is SB and has already checked, because he probably would be checking Kx and 7x hands.
It’s weird for BB to shove here with a pocket pair smaller than kings when he didn’t do so preflop. The same holds true for a lot of Ax hands. I think you should just fold if the game is loose-passive, but it’s hard for me to construct a range you want to be against unless BB is the type who rarely raises pre and bluffs too much in multi-way pots with dry boards.
shoving is the worst option. are you trying to bluff the last remaining player? i don’t mind a call as much as others because i do see idiots shoving pocket pairs in these spots and it’s 115 into like 235. probably close enough to break even that calling is more fun than folding comes into play
Alright. I’m the fish :). He had KJo. My thought process was that he would have raised AK, I had blockers to KQ, and I assumed he would fold KJ. Lesson learned.
