Organizing Unstuck 2020

I can’t find the links right now, but there are a couple of sites that rank which senate race to donate to based on value. I think the best bang for your buck right now (close race, cheap market) are Iowa and Alaska, IIRC.

As for volunteering, it’s never too late. efforts are probably switching to Get out the vote calls and texts, which are often even more effective than persuasion. If you don’t necessarily want to text for Biden, you can find tons of different opportunities on https://www.mobilize.us/

Fuck off, some of us are trying to make a difference.

Officially signed up for four canvassing/lit drop shifts this weekend and next. I’m not sure if they’re going to want me to knock doors and talk to people or not, but if they do I’m just going to suck it up and do it, I’ve got N95s and I’ll sanitize my hands a lot. We have to win Pennsylvania and I’m not going to live with regret. I don’t want us getting beaten on the ground.

Waiting to hear if canvassing or phone banking is preferred 11/2 & 11/3.

A girl knocked my door recently, I put on a mask to answer and she stayed a few feet back. I’ll just knock and back away 6 feet before they open it.

Trying to get a couple friends to pick up shifts if they’re comfortable.

Victaor doesn’t care one bit about making a difference. He only cares about posturing about making a difference. The actual work is far too much for him.

Keep shouting on the Internet at the people actually trying to make a difference, it’s great work you’re doing.

PA Dems maxed out the 7pm training call for canvassing and added a previously unscheduled call at 7:30!

Before I get into this, let me say that just like dancing, if the moves you are making result in you feeling good inside, who am I to stop you.

Just so I have the progression of the past few posts right:

  1. @Vict0ar makes the observation that it’s absurd to act like Joe and the Dems are saviors rather than complicit in us arriving at our current conundrum. (Seems pretty damn accurate to me)

  2. @anon38180840 ignores Victor’s point, tells Victor to fuck off, and stakes out his perceived moral high ground of making a difference: volunteering to help the old complicit boss replace the new boss.

  3. Victor makes a second point by facetiously commending the bang up job Cuse is doing performing unpaid work to get the plutocrats’ complicit stooge back in charge.

  4. @clovis8 ignores Victor’s points and claims that “Victor doesn’t care one bit about making a difference”. Which is quite an accusation considering it appears to be based solely on the fact that Victor isn’t genuflecting in a certain ways that centrists associate with their version of making a difference.

  5. Cuse doubles down by ignoring both of Victor’s points, and tone-polices by telling Victor to stop shouting on the internet(as if that’s a thing). And then plants his flag again claiming the moral high ground because Cuse(unlike Victor) is doing unpaid work promoting the plutocrats’ bagman in his quest to become the head boss.

Do Cuse and Clovis grasp the absurdity of accusing a socialist(Victor) of not “making a difference” because Victor is not doing unpaid volunteer work for a wholly complicit center-right politician disdainful of socialism, with $400M in his campaign coffers?

well, considering that earlier in the thread he shat on all volunteering, maybe?

There are plenty of down ballot progressive candidates that need volunteers. Marquita Bradshaw and Cori Bush immediately spring to mind.

This post is an amazing parody. Well played sir. I almost went back to read victoars erudite posts again given the glowing description you provide of them.

If you point out what you don’t agree with, I’m open to changing my mind.

Julie Oliver in TX is another one.

I love it when they shit on me for being a center right shitlib. I donated to Bernie and several progressive candidates for Congress, including a few who primaried establishment centrists.

But I don’t shit all over the nominee and am putting my time in to defeat Trump so I’m a hypocrite.

Idiots like them are why progressives never seem to get anywhere.

Here’s a whole list:

Considering the fact that these folks winning is the only way to enact real progressive change in communities and eventually the federal government, you’d think he’d be excited to make some calls for them. They likely have very little money and need all the help they can get.

I didn’t call you a shitlib, or call you a hyprocrite.

Yet, you called me an idiot and accuse me of being the reason why progressives don’t get anywhere.

I took the time to state my point of view. Apparently, if we disagree you’d rather call me names and not state what you disagree about.

Let’s roll the tape on this claim of yours and compare my paraphrased version of Victor’s posts to his own:

That’s a very non-glowing, dead-on paraphrase^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Next:

Well, look at that. I’m 2 for 2 on paraphrasing Victor in a non-glowing way.

It’s the general tone of several posters here, and I’ve been called some version of those things plenty of times before. The tone is good enough for me, we all know what is meant.

Give me a fucking break, like this conversation hasn’t already been had a million times. We’ve got an election in a week and a half, and if we lose democracy is probably dead in America. Get in the game or shut the fuck up, at this point.

Trump Administration: Supporting a lawsuit to strike down the entire Affordable Care Act.

Biden Administration: Support expanding the ACA to include a public option.

Herp derp Biden’s not Bernie so fuck him? Nah fuck you. Nobody here wanted Biden, I donated to and voted for Bernie in '16 and in '20, but I’ll take a shot at a public option over literally LITERALLY nothing. I’ll take democracy over dictatorship. But by all means sit on the sideline and talk shit at people doing something to try to help those of us who are in trouble on healthcare, those who are in trouble on racism, sexism, bigotry, immigration, etc, etc, etc.

Hey any chance we can keep this thread free from this bullshit? Let victoar and watevs and mysteryman and whoever else wants to shit on people volunteering do it in a containment thread. This thread has actual, real world value and the shit posting is a huge detriment to that.

Motherfucker. I spent two days door knocking in 2018 and got rained on pretty bad both days. I signed up for this Sunday and the forecast was <10% chance to rain. Four hours later, 40% chance of rain.

I figured I’d also knock doors Mon and Tuesday, rain both days.

I’m signed up for next Sunday as well, forecast just changed from sunny to partly cloudy with a chance of rain.

I imagine that’s not great for my N95 situation, either.

Really? That’s all you said? I was mad about this post, but I didn’t respond because it’s you, but now I have to dig it up.

Also, that woman wasn’t speaking to you, obviously.

So, if you don’t like the way that you perceive my tone in written text communication, you get to a) accuse me of calling you names(even though I never have), b) call me an idiot, c) accuse me of being the reason that progressives have been failing.

Sorry, but I won’t be using my perception of your tone as an excuse to call you names; not my preferred method of communication, so I won’t be joining you down that path.

I feel like you and I are barely involved in the same conversation, as you seem to be firmly entrenched in some other conversations that you feel have already happened a million times, but I guess keep doing you and never pass up an opportunity to tell someone who is civilly interacting with you to “shut the fuck up”.

I will point out that we are all in the game. I don’t get to say that since you aren’t doing what I am doing or what I feel is best that you need to “get in the game or shut the fuck up”, any more so than you do.
