On the Origins of Covid

Do you really think letting Joe Bumfuck know this thing escaped from a lab in Wuhan is the best way to go about that? Letting Joe Bumfuck know is your last resort if China refuses to shape up any other way, and even then I can’t see it doing much.

What about all the other labs around the world? How do they know what they should do to improve their safety and prevent this from happening again?

I have a feeling they have ways of communicating with each other other than riling up Joe Bumfuck.

So you want to trust a secret global cabal of scientists to self-regulate, without an investigation or accountability, to prevent another pandemic? Hard to imagine what could go wrong.

This is so, so accurate. If it “escaped from the lab” does end up being the accepted origin story it will literally be painful to listen to the countless idiots freak out about how this was an attack by the Chinese and the communist demoncrats.

lol those guys already think that

Have you ever been to a commercial fish market or slaughterhouse? Or almost any restaurant kitchen? I don’t expect Chinese markets to be clean. I’m saying food production is disgusting everywhere.

OK, but spillover events happen there, too.

Jfc you are wrong. It was the trilateral commission.

Stop with these unsupported accusations. Or is the MSM in on it as well? I see today that the Supreme Court is protecting Hilary about her email server.

These wet markets are unique though in that they have horrible sanitation, and species from all over in close quarters mixing with blood and feces. It’s like the perfect breeding ground for mutant virus strains. American slaughterhouses are disgusting too, don’t get me wrong, but they’re missing that element of wildlife from every corner of a giant country stacked in cages on top of each other.

To be absolutely clear, these Chinese wet markets are not unique in this regard.

I’ve made actual arguments. People like you and caffeine and trolley do smears like this rather than actually have a discussion. Hopefully people can see through this nonsense. The accusations of “conspiracy theories” and posting sick tin foil hat memes aim to shut down viewpoints rather than actually discuss the issues.

I agree with this but we’ve got people who are insisting that it is one or the other. Some people think it is the sanitation:

And others think we can’t blame the sanitation because, that’s standard all over the place:

So I assume they would believe it’s due to the unusual animals.

I’m in the “why not both” camp myself with you.

You cut out the rest of my paragraph. The horrible sanitation is not what makes them unique.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s everything. It’s like the most fertile breeding ground imaginable for disease.

Oh I’m sure we could imagine worse, but it’s definitely up there.

I’ve never been to any wet markets in China, but I have been to some in Asia. I think as far as sanitation goes they’re probably not that bad (at least the ones I’ve seen first hand) and I’ve bought meat and produce from them without issues.

I think the main difference between those and Western markets is that the Asian ones do all the gross stuff (with respect to meat) out in the open. Here, all of that stuff happens in the back where the customers don’t really see how the sausage is made, so to speak. Arguably, doing it all out in the open should promote better practices.

It’s not even the unusual animals, although that helps. The swine flu outbreak (probably) came from a pig farm in Mexico. Avian flu was from chickens. Jam lot of animals and people together and don’t worry overmuch about sanitation and you’re gonna get these bugs from time to time. There’s no need to for a secret biolab accident to be involved.

CPAC?

I’d say that qualifies.
