On the morality of doxxing shitty cops using violence against innocent civilians

Jeez, I just logged in.

Could some kind soul please give the cliff notes on this doxxing incident? (I looked but I couldn’t determine what actually happened viz a viz this forum.)

Did someone on this forum identify the Buffalo cop and post his name, address, and telephone number (gathered via internet sleuthing) on this forum? Or was it someone else who did the sleuthing and someone copy/pasted/linked to the info on this forum? Or something else??

I honestly have no idea. I’m just pissed off that some people seem more outraged and willing to take a stand over a cop supposedly getting doxxed than countless black people getting murdered.

Someone posted the tweet that had the doxxing info. It was reported and deleted shortly after. All the convo afterwards is in this thread

It was a fucking reposted tweet? Well how fucking privileged are we to be outraged over that? LOL

Imagine the privilege involved in being outraged over people being outraged!

microdaughter is happy that snorreo is happening.

Yeah, it was a tweet that was the 11th most trending tweet in the universe or something to that effect. Unstuckpolitics wasn’t making anything happen.

That’s not quite the “got you” that you think it is.

I think he was just joking.

But maybe you are too. I’m never totally sure. I’m not much older than many of you, but they were critical years in forming internet sarcasm detectors.

I don’t think you’re any older than me. Or close enough in any case that it doesn’t matter.

I think I’m like a year or two older. I’m 52. You’re probably not that good at internet sarcasm yourself.

I’m from New England, which makes me pretty much an expert. Your problem is not your age, it’s that you are from California. You assholes are genuinely too friendly and earnest.

Thanks for the background info.

Given that info my outrage, on a 1-100 scale, for what transpired here is a 0.1 (barely registers). I have no problem if someone flagged the post with the home address and telephone number, just as I have no problem with a mod/admin deleting the post.

Accountability is a huge issue permeating police brutality / police tactics issues. Badge numbers are supposed to be visible/knowable and many police departments require camera vests be turned on at all times. Of course, everybody on this forum knows all this stuff and also knows how police identification and accountability typically goes out the window in times of strife (like now).

I can understand drawing the line at publicizing police home addresses, but as someone (more than one person) said above, that is largely missing the point of what is going on here.

that’s funny, every single Nazi on my Facebook feed is saying this lazy/disingenuous crap all week.

Weird how when push comes to shove, the Hashtag Resistance sides with the fascists over the socialists, right?

Aside, I don’t like the thread title because “do shitty things” is such a broad and vague term. Like when a Nazi says “Oh you don’t like it when people disagree with you?” as though “certain people should be genocided” is like asking what flavor of ice cream you like. Let’s be clear what this is, “On the morality of doxxing a violent soldier in a state-sponsored fascist occupying army who tried to murder an elderly man.”

(This was about the cop in Buffalo, right?)

For sure. I’m not against exposing the stormtroopers, and think it should be illegal to cover their badge numbers and turn off their cameras. But if you’re gonna post someone’s home address (not this forum; it was on twitter), don’t make a mistake.

It will be.

Entertaining thread, thanks OP, well worth viewing hidden replies to see suspicions confirmed.

It really is always about privilege.
