The key to understanding cruises is most people prefer whats familiar to them and low stress over adventure. Not just for vacations either. My vacation tastes have moved on, but I still enjoyed my cruises.

I love travel where you stay in locals places and avoid all tourist areas. I also love cruises. Different kinds of fun.

Cruises are about stuffing yourself with great food, relaxing by the pool and spending some time drinking on the beach.

Thatā€™s a definite no, then.

Rick Steves probably has the best job of all time, right? Not sure how he talked his way in his travel gig.

Women couldnā€™t vote in Switzerland until 1971.

I donā€™t think anyone disputes that these countries are oppressive to women, but the West should be holding itself to a higher standard than that.

Friend just sent me this. My brain is on fire. Give it a second to kick in. Itā€™s amazing.

So has anyone whoā€™s worked on a building site, whatā€™s your point? And I feel itā€™s a little disingenuous to come in with this 1:1 by-your-logic and then pivot to complexity when people simply accept the premise of your implied reductio.

Animation is really cool, but what the fuck?

The thing about cruises that nobody can ever seem to answer is why the hell do you need to be on a boat to do any of it.

It looks like a puzzle. I donā€™t think itā€™s just salad.

Itā€˜s important that as I have already explained they are creating a law for a non-existing problem.

The reason why is so the lines can hire whomever they want without regard to immigration and wage laws. Also, lots of people like hitting cities and activities for half day stretches.

There are cheap, all-inclusive resorts in every underdeveloped country that has a beach and an easily exploited labor pool.

Sure, if you want to spend triple airfare as what it costs to get to Miami.

We did an Alaska cruise and it was astonishingly beautiful but still not very fun. Iā€™ll never go on another cruise unless/until Iā€™m too old to move around.

Iā€™ve heard smaller cruises can be awesome but theyā€™re mega expensive. Not hard to imagine a 50 person Mediterranean cruise that bypasses the tourist traps and has great food being a bucket list experience.

A good portion of the joy I get is being on the ship. Having morning coffee on the balcony looking out at the ocean. I love it.

And North Koreans canā€™t wear blue jeans. If the Swiss hate freedom so much they tell people what clothes they can and canā€™t wear, fuck 'em.
