When you feel like ordering something from Amazon, give the workers at Kroshopkin the chance to source it for you. We’re slow and expensive, but good in some other ways.

Human mortality is probably unsolvable.
World hunger is a logistical problem. There’s more than enough food, it just isn’t in the right places.
Worker control of our work places is achievable. Amazon’s operations could continue pretty much exactly as they are, except instead of Bezos and the shareholders deciding how the profits are used, the people who do the work would have that power.
That you can’t imagine worker control of the means of production aka socialism happening in a million years is probably more due to us being born and raised under decades of capitalist propaganda that convinces us that it is impossible.

He was on the broadcast on Sunday and looked absolutely awful, I’ll be shocked if he isn’t back on pills. So sad.
I don’t disagree at all with anything you’ve said, but amazon owns and runs the world. Workers just don’t take back something like that without something like, well, violent revolution. That’s the only scenario I can think of in which it happens.
I am not even saying it couldn’t work, in case you thought that. I just think it wouldn’t happen because it would require extremely powerful people with a lot more resources and a lot more to lose giving up all of that, because…?
I guess the govt could step in and enforce it - super unlikely to me for a lot of reasons that shouldn’t need explaining.

You’re both right. Amazon can buy and sell the government, the police, the military. Anyone here can do a lot to make their lives a lot less intertwined with organizations like Amazon and a journey of however long begins with the first step, but changing the United States of America is a long journey. But, like I said, we do have a lot of control over how we live.

Amazon gets too much hate and Google doesn’t get anywhere near enough. Sure, the former is evil in all the ways people usually say, but at least their business model is based on selling people things they want. Google’s business model otoh is based on selling people, and the incentive to do evil in that situation is a lot greater.

Yesterday I bought a Costco cherry pie. There must be a ton of sugar in that thing. Big Sugar won, face it.
