It’s -4 degrees in OKC, and we’re subject to rolling blackouts 2 hours long to preserve the energy grid. image

Just gonna leave this here. Feel free to quote when I’m fleeing a hurricane in a few months.

Apparently it’s a “Level 3 Snow Emergency” where I live and I don’t even know what that means. Mostly seems like a normal Midwest winter so far.

The tweet itself may not be entirely correct but it is Putins way of showing that these riot Cops are just your friends really, when Infact there anything but.

It’s Russian, he’s behind everything the police do, ffs, lol.

This means the same too me and I see no distinction between those 2 lines of words.

Navalny probably will be glue by the time he leaves.

Yeah surprised there isn’t more about the weather here. TX is basically fucked. They have a completely independent grid so they are doing rolling blackouts as well in freezing temps, none of the homes are insulated well for winter, and all the roads are closed because they’re all covered in ice and their pipes are bursting because none of the places were built for this cold.

Lots of people going to die in TX from this.

Also that pile up in texas was fucking insane. Seeing an F150 or w/e it was get tossed around like a toy truck was wild.

Got an uncle in TX, him and his wife are in their late 60s and live on a ranch. Been without power for 16 hours. They’ve been going to their cars every couple hours to run them to use the heater. It’s fucked up and scary. I’m worried the cold will get them in the night.

He’s a good one too, recently converted from Republican to Democrat because of Trumpsim. Voted full blue in 2020.

Yeah, surprised there hasn’t been more national news about TX. Absolute scary disaster right now. Ms. JordanIB is down there now (San Antonio) with her senior parents, including a father with Alzheimers who struggles to stay warm under normal circumstances.

Basically no power since 5AM Monday. Doing as best they can in the house with blankets, hats, gloves, coats, etc. to get through it. I believe they are heading to the car as well every so often for warmth and charging phones. Thankfully one of two cars is essentially fully gassed up. The other, I’m not sure.

“Rolling blackouts” is pretty much a euphemism for “You might get 2-3 minutes of power every hour, which won’t be enough to get any heat, and overnight, that will probably be 0 power when it’s 10 degrees outside”. If you have power, you have it. If you don’t, you’re not getting it. Sounds like the utility doesn’t actually have the ability to take a powered area off the grid for a few hours, and transfer that capacity to an area that hasn’t had power.

With the winter weather continuing for another 24-48 hours, I don’t see how the situation changes anytime soon.

Trying to find a hotel room for tonight that’s within a safe driving distance and it’s basically impossible.

Where is biden? Should be offering all the help even if most Texans would rather die than accept. Still needs to be an offer.

Also hope wife and the in laws are ok. I have no idea, is this weather cold enough to kill people much older people without power? I’d assume so right?

And more than 1 person has been telling me to move to Texas lately. I am wearing sandals and a light sweater right now.

I look at that weather and that’s a hard no from me dawg

Looks like he approved a national emergency declaration 2 days ago. I’m not sure what is and isn’t being done federally. The fact is the state can’t generate enough power for itself right now, and they’re not connected to a national grid or something like that.

As a Texan who would welcome the help, not sure what Biden can do beyond basic disaster relief. Texas decided to create an independent power grid because socialism bad. I think I am factually correct in stating that we can’t plug into the national grid even if we want to.

Can’t we send like all the snow and toad equipment shit to clear up the roads at least? Or there isn’t enough to spare?
