I think they deliberately make it accessible for download. Or at least they used to.
Future historians would look back on this period in the life of the founder and his online community as foundational to jmakin the wise forming the strategies that would allow the new society to rise from the ashes of the old
Are you bringing your laptop? Power will be harder to get but will be pretty available imo.
I think some people are just fascinated and become addicted to prepping. It’s like a little further down the rabbit hole of precious metals collecting. It’s just a dopamine hit to take part in it and it wouldn’t be helpful or satisfying at all to pawn your metals for 20% of its value or to eat your 20 cans of baked beans when neither were actually helpful.
I see doomsday prepping as a way of convincing yourself that you have some control over a chaotic world. It’s a comforting/coping mechanism for dealing with a world that is scary and well beyond anyone’s control. I don’t hate it; there are far more toxic hobbies to engage in.
A co-worker once got me hooked on a Doomsday Prepper trash TV show on Discovery that went over the elaborate prepper setups that people had. I remember there was this one guy who must have been 300+ pounds and on diabetic medication and had a wooland hideout, like my dude, you are not surviving two weeks without your meds. Not that I’m not also dependent on modern tech to survive, but you’re definitely for sure ngmi.
I run them over

omg that thread was so fun. just spent enough time reading it that i almost forgot it took this thread 51 posts before anyone referenced the word “gun”.
bc i’m 100% taking jmakin’s important documents lol.
I don’t go hardcore but I think living in a state like california, where we inevitably will have a catastrophic earthquake, having at least a week’s worth of water and whatever other essentials you may need during a catastrophe is pretty important. I strongly believe in first aid kits too and keep them everywhere. whenever I have stuff like antibiotics that expire I just keep them. can’t be any harm.
One time, when I was broke living mostly paycheck to paycheck, there was a christmas where I had to work and I almost died because every store was closed that sold water. I had like, no way to get water just because most stores were closed. I realized then that I would definitely die very quickly in any catastrophe and started thinking about it more.
i’ve always daydreamed of a EMP burst going off, no explosion, no radiation (think ‘one second after’, which is a great book if these scenarios are fun to anyone).
basically my thought was that i would realize what happened before most everyone else and would already be on my 5th trip to dollar general with multiple buggies tied together (i live 2 blocks from one) before people realized it wasn’t just the power being out.
and if anyone saw me, i still have buckets of .22/9mm/shotgun shells.

gross
Think my strategy is to try my best to catch the bomb as it lands.
I want no part in post apocalyptic society.
Not that you’d think it but I wouldn’t classify anything that you’re saying as doomsday prepping but rather just assuming basic precautions, imo.

Probably be like well guess it’s time for Adelaide to top the most liveable cities in the world list again, bitches
This is what would kill me. I have epilepsy and without my meds, I would eventually go into status epilepticus and die.
Probably better to be insta-vaporized instead.
Ideally, how much Bitcoin do you want in case of nuclear holocaust?
Aka World Book Encyclopedia
I live in Perth. No other city within 2000km that is larger than about 50k people. It’s one of about 3 good reasons to live here.
Back to thread topic, if the bombs were being dropped on me and I had 30 mins to go I’m deadset trying to get laid one more time and then giving up. I doubt there is any real tactics we can use on the fly.
However, given I think the chances are so low I’m not building a bunker either.
