Android somehow manages this without me having to do anything. My phone is always on vibrate but my alarm works without issue, every time.
As any phone should. You can set your alarm to silent, which I guess means vibrate. But a) that’s right there in the individual alarm setting itself where it’s obvious and b) that’s not what happened here. There’s some kind of alarm volume that you can apparently set to .5 on a 1 to 10 scale, which is just unconscionably dumb.
Also it was snoozing itself when I finally did wake up. Wtf is that?
JFC - so much wrong with this. Why on earth are ringtone and alerts set by the same sliders? I have Do Not Disturb on for a reason. An alarm I set should always take precedence over that. Wtf is change with buttons?
I’m still not sure any of this helps. Investigating now.
Yeah it was the ringer volume. Absolutely insane that it’s tied to the alarm volume. I never have the ringer on anyway, so hopefully I can leave the ringer volume on high for the alarm.
Making it seem even worse was face aware, which mutes the volume even more when I’m looking at the phone.
Wait until you’re in a silent cat and mouse game with terrorists/Velociraptors/zombies and you try and put your phone on silent but forget you had an alarm set.
I haven’t experienced this and I have multiple alarms I use daily. But I rarely if ever have my phone on dnd. Trying to remember if I have gotten a quieter alarm.
I’ve never charged my phone by the bed so never ran into that problem, I use my Apple watch for an alarm and the haptic plus noise has been pretty effective. I never remember where I have to go to turn it off for a day for holiday’s or whatever but they’ve added notes on where to go if I go to the wrong place which is nice.
Ditto. I started using a vibrating watch even before the Apple Watch to avoid waking my wife. I much prefer it to an audible alarm.
I’ve had the super quiet alarm thing happen once and it was 100 years ago, BUT I now use an app (it’s just called “alarm clock” so idk how to recommend it to anyone, there’s probably 20000 apps named that) that has never done anything unexpected
Oh yeah I use my Apple Watch as an alarm clock and I always wear it while sleeping but I don’t always wear it during the day. Definitely my favorite alarm clock ever for waking up.
I know the app that I use for production website alerts overrides volume settings because it’ll sound like an air raid siren in the middle of somewhere quiet even when settings are on silent, so clearly apple has a way to override volume for apps, they’ve just chosen not to do so for alarms, which is an interesting choice. At least allow the user to make that decision for themselves. I’ve also been bit by this before but due to aforementioned monitoring app only rarely get the pleasure of sleeping to my alarm these days.
I set an alarm to charge it before I go to bed so I don’t wake up and find it has too little charge for a hike/bike ride in the morning.
I have an Apple Watch iii are the newer ones able to go all day?
Yes. I have an Ultra 2 and while I do charge every day, it would be able to go two or three days at least. Before this I had a 9 and it could do 24 hours+.
That’s good to hear because I am looking to upgrade.
I have an Ultra 1 and if I don’t do a hike or a ride it will have enough to go a full day, but will be pretty low the next morning. However, it did keep track of the hike I did the next morning even switching to low power mode half way through. So I just try and charge it every night to not have to worry about it. I think I’m going to try and not give Apple any more money this year and hold off on getting the Ultra 3 until next year.
Omffg. The new outlook interface
Just started some consulting work and been given a work laptop. New outlook seems to be enforced and I can’t change it back.
Like what the actual actual fuck.
- You can’t resize the different panes. DESPITE THERE BEING A LITTLE RESIZE HOVER OVER MOUSE OPTION
- random white space/background space around the reading pane. YES. IN A SMALL LAPTOP WITH LIMITED SCREEN SPACE. WHAT I WANT IS A BUNCH OF MY SCREEN SHOWING A FUCKING BACKGROUND PICTURE INSTEAD OF ACTUAL WORK!
my lawnmowers is in the next fucking galaxy right now. The next time I meet someone from Microsoft, even if they work in the canteen, im going to throat punch them.
I love all that vertical space used up for the word “Inbox”.
Also guess what? Those headers are clickable! Even though they give no indication as such, even if you hover over them. Hover state is so 2015 old man!
This is a very minor one.
When I order food delivery here about 5-10% of the time instead of taking the money from my account immediately they will do it on the 6th of the next month as some sort of deal.
I did not ask for this. I do not want this.
My Le Creuset dutch oven came out of the dishwasher with two chunks of enamel missing, it’s only about 2 years old…
Inside or outside? Is it covered by the lifetime limited warranty?
