Tell me you didn’t do any testing without telling me you didn’t do any testing.
This is customer facing data…

Gotta love Excel. I’m surprised it didn’t convert any to dates.
This started as a CSV in our app, we did it on purpose…
Have y’all hear of significant digits?
So what is the breakdown?
Our portals show charts with energy usage to end users, they can download that data in CSVs, it appears that somewhere along the path from the raw data, which is generally 4 decimal places, the data is running into some floating point rounding errors that blow up the significand. These look ridiculous in customer facing data and should be rounded to something nicer. They are frustrating for me because if someone was paying attention when the code was written it would have taken a few minutes to fix but instead it turns into a cluster fuck of trying to slot the fix into a team’s sprint and reinforcing us being dummies to the customer when it takes a month to fix.
Seller issued a refund. I have no idea if they received the return, tracking info still says it wasn’t delivered. Torn on whether to remove negative feedback, I’m thinking no. At the very least people should know that it’s a drop-shipping operation.
EDIT: It would actually seem that my feedback has disappeared, so ![]()
EDIT #2: TIL that sellers can remove feedback if they issue a full refund

Venmo is such a terribly designed app.
I paid this person 11 days ago. Great, should be remembered so I can pay her again, right? Not so fast my friend!
None of these people are her. Just a bunch of randoms on Venmo.
So I need to know her username, which of course isn’t displayed at first. Maybe I’ll just type @ so I can see a list of all usernames. No, that stops at 5. God forbid I see all 20 or so people I’ve ever paid on Venmo. Gotta think about performance. 5 is enough.
Apparently for her to even show up in that list, I need to add her as a friend OR type her username verbatim. How about also showing recent payees you POS app?
GRRRRRRR
They don’t send some sort of email or text when you send someone money?
I get a text + email + notification which is kind of annoying but I don’t use it much or it would be annoying enough I’d have to figure out how to turn two of those off.
I can find it, I just have to go through the history and click on her name (since her username doesn’t show). Dumb. It should list or at least let you search through your recent payees on the screen I showed. That screen only shows “friends”. Which is a dumb idea to begin with.
Everything about Venmo I read on this forum is so weird to me having gotten used to Alipay and WeChat.
Alipay especially has a gazillion different mini apps and functions but the basics of transferring money is so simple and isn’t groundbreaking stuff.
Zelle>Venmo>Cashapp
I’m using Zelle for the first time and it is limiting me like crazy, awful experience. Going to take like a week to send what I need spread over a bunch of transactions.
Zelle is weird. I accidentally tried to send from the wrong account (had moved most of the money out of it) and they banned me for six months.
An hour late for hiking this morning because my iPhone alarm went off at a volume that you can only barely hear if you hold the phone directly to your ear.
How is that even possible? What use case is there for such an alarm?
According to Gemini, there are multiple settings that could have caused it.
NO SETTING SHOULD EVER CAUSE THIS, MUCH LESS A SETTING THAT ISN’T SHOWN RIGHT THERE ON THE ALARM ITSELF AND NOT BURIED OFF IN THE FUCKING HINTERLANDS.
Apparently the ringer volume and alarm volume are tied to together for some inexplicably stupid reason? I haven’t felt like investigating yet.
I’m tired. I barely even have the energy anymore to rant about this blatantly stupid UI/UX out of $trillion companies. Have some fucking respect for yourselves.
Hopefully there’s a solution to this that somebody here has, but for now, a rant:
Like a good consumer, I have all of my credit frozen and the three credit bureaus. I’m at the cashier at Kohl’s today and they hit me with the “Get 30% off if you open a Kohl’s card”, so I do. But all of my credit is frozen, and the cashier doesn’t know which bureau they check so I have to unfreeze all of them. It takes about 15 minutes to log in to each bureau because they all have multi factor authentication. And there’s a line behind me, and I feel like an asshole because of how long it takes to go through MFA and navigate their websites to do the unfreezes.
There really should be a single website you can go to to manage all of credit freezes. What a pain in the ass.
But in the end I saved $60.
