Wrong thread
Sweet fucking Lucifer this guy nails every talking point I’ve been trying to convey this entire thread. I apologize if I’ve been rude or just not smart and eloquent enough to get this message across as smoothly as him
Notice he does mention if rural corruption becomes enough of a problem they’ll get them out via the ballot box or cartridge box. I admit to being primarily focused on the cartridge box here because this is a gun thread, but 100% agree that ideally urban areas and minorities need to mass organize and vote out mayors to get rid of corrupt non elected police chiefs to hold police accountable. Local level voting isn’t talked about nearly enough imo. Excellent link. Thanks!
I apologize. I thought addressed it on 8/18. If it’s something else or I missed a post, feel free to PM me or state it here
I can’t possibly add anything more to what the dude 6ix linked to. He expressed my own thoughts better than I have in all the babbling posts I’ve made throughout this entire thread. Minorities take the brunt of the corrupt establishment we live under. But most don’t get that the overwhelming majority of us have more in common with each other than anyone in DC or urban establishment. It’s why I disagreed when you said “they” (the gun owners?) wouldn’t consider you on their side. When TSHTF for real, we’re all in this together. And if you ask me, even many group think libs don’t get it. We’re not gonna defeat racism one grandpa at a time when the entire fucking establishment is racist and needs to be torn down and rebuilt from the bottom up. This country’s racism, ever growing wealth disparity, industrialized prison complexes and never ending war machine are all intertwined. Will civilians need guns? I hope not. But I don’t think we should give up our right to own them until this current utterly rigged system gets properly dismantled once and for all
I’m not a gun enthusiast. I only own two. A 9mm Glock and a APX Beretta. And no… I don’t personally own an assault rifle because I fully agree their one purpose is to kill as many people in as short of time as possible. If I find myself in a situation where I do need one then something has gone horribly wrong and I’ll have more problems than any gun can get me out of. I completely concur that no civilian currently needs an assault rifle
Nah they would for the most part join in rounding up the commie libs. You must not have a lot of interaction with gun owners.
This bubble you dwell in… It has its own biosphere and everything, huh? You’ve never once had to venture out of it even for a little while?
Id guess i interact with far more gun owners and second amendment enthusiast then you.
But all you really need to do i look up the stats on who owns guns and its mostly conservatives who if TSHTF will be the shitters.
In this hypothetical you have in your mind where the gov comes after the people who is running the government conservatives or liberals?
You’re probably right. I don’t know a ton of gun owners and now that I think of it, it’s interesting. Of my few friends who do own guns, every one of them is pretty hard core progressive or independent in the sense they’re not brainwashed establishment wonks. Whereas, none of my establishment Dem friends (those who are ardent viewers of MSNBC and Maddow fans, or who were in love with HRC and will likely vote Biden, Harris, or Mayor Pete in the primaries) own a gun. These are also people who are well off financially, live in affluent neighborhoods and have good paying jobs because of their education. I’m sure my own little bubble is a small sample size and not all that meaningful, but I find it interesting nonetheless. I’m willing to bet the guy 6ix linked to, is also an egalitarian gun owner
The article you just cited states there are just as many people who could see owning a gun in the future, as there are who own guns now. This would imply you think fully 60% of the population have the mentality to “join in and round up commie libs”. I doubt you believe that.
The rest of the demographics make sense. I did not grow up around guns and it took me a while to bring myself to buy one and am still uncomfortable having them around. Frankly, guns scare the shit out of me. They are a weapon of death. I don’t ever want to shoot anyone and am not sure I could live with myself if one of my guns ever accidentally killed a friend or family member. I’ve also worried if I could ever get depressed enough to stick one in my mouth
So far, I’ve only read the exact page you linked to, but I’d like to see stats pertaining to the correlation of wealth and gun ownership. Obviously, wealthy conservatives are more likely to own guns, but I’d be willing to bet my small sample size holds true. Educated white establishment Dems with well paying jobs, living in good neighborhoods are more likely to not see any reason to have a gun, while poorer people in not so good neighborhoods who do, probably have difficulty obtaining one
One last thing… I doubt I’d be fully honest if taking a survey unless I were 100% sure it was anonymous. I’m super low key about owning a gun in the real world and often spout the same arguments used against me here. Even my current gf doesn’t know. What type of gun owners do you interact with and in what capacity? How do you know they are all conservatives who would round up commie libs? Is it possible you’re geographically biased?
I live in the sticks own a gun and have known and know quite a few gun owners. All the gun owners i know bar myself and one other are conservatives.
As far as knowing if they would join in the roundups you envision you would have to answer my question. I have no idea what is going through your mind in your TSHTF scenario which is why i asked who is in charge when the government comes after the people. If its a conservative government conservative gun owners may not join in the roundups but they will not be coming to the rescue. If you think they will you need to talk to them instead of the liberal gun owners in your bubble.
Here are your allies.
Obviously, I don’t agree with any of that NRA ad. I don’t like the NRA
As for roundups, I don’t see it that way. It’s a slow squeeze by a racist oligarchy establishment. A pressure cooker if you will, that continues to build until there’s nothing left to do but explode. I think people are far too myopic when it comes to dealing with issues. Easily distracted. Taking their eye off the ball and in the process, losing sight of the overall big picture. Unless you’re part of the establishment or among the uber wealthy, we’re all going to slowly get destroyed
Never said you agreed or liked them.
Ahh. So you think white conservative gun owners who own most of the guns, especially assault rifles you dont want taken away, will rise up and tear down the racist establishment pressure cooker. Alright…i mean they are the ones voting them into power. But alright.
The WH’s solution to gun violence is apparently to bring the movie Minority Report to life.
Advisers to Wright quickly pulled together a three-page proposal – called SAFEHOME for Stopping Aberrant Fatal Events by Helping Overcome Mental Extremes – which calls for exploring whether technology like phones and smart watches can be used to detect when mentally ill people are about to turn violent.
They really really wanted that SAFEHOME acronym.
Good to know we no longer have mass shootings, only “aberrant fatal events.”
I have a phone app that lets me know if my friends are psychologically unwell, it’s called Facebook.
Makes me wonder how many possibly good policy proposals have been shelved due to lack of a fitting acronym. It seems like there was a question on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me a while ago dealing with this issue.
That hick sage and his youtube channel, equating the ATF or other federal agency - tasked with mitigating nutjobs like David Koresh or Randy Weaver once a decade - to urban policing. Good stuff.
'See, us hicks have an adversarial relationship with ATF ‘cause reasons. I hope that better illustrates for you hayseeds how minorities feel about cops.’
