This thread, which used to be one of the best, is now completely unreadable due to one poster.
As stated by several, it is not only because of his truly ridiculous stance on gun control, but also his terrible posting and desire to take over the thread.
Guns protecting minorities from militarized cops isn’t going to be a thing unless we get something like a resurgence of the Black Liberation Army. If you want government to fear the people, then the way to make them fear is to threaten extra-legal justice when the normal paths don’t lead to justice.
We live in a world where the NRA’s view of the Second Amendment holds sway. Minorities aren’t safe from the cops now, so maybe try something different?
The NRA is corrupt and has never held sway with me or any other reasonable gun owner I know. I highly doubt we’ll ever get a just legal or judicial system in place the way things are going
My ideal vision could also be achieved through elections, but it’s looking less and less likely that will ever happen. The entire system is rigged. I’m looking at the overall big picture and tying it all together. It’s not just the corrupt police and judicial system I’m against. It’s the concentrated power of wealth in just a handful of people who create corrupt politics, media, business and financial markets, etc. These are ALL intrinsically linked and need to be addressed in one fell swoop. A Biden or Harris presidency would be a disaster in my opinion. Not as bad as a 2nd term for Trump, but it would be just establishment politics as usual
It is true everyone here is a msm sheep supporter of Biden.
Can we at least start a gun thread of some sort so this one does not stay at the top. Normally I would not care about derails but when this is active it’s usually because bad things.
So what? What you said has nothing to do with what I said.
This is a thread about “removing guns from civilians,” it is LITERALLY what you are discussing RIGHT NOW! To recap: You don’t want to remove guns from civilians, you want to remove guns from the police and see what happens I guess.
Removing the excuse used by the police to deploy military weapons would take a huge step in decreasing the pretense used for police violence. And even if it did nothing to decrease police violence it would decrease the massively more pervasive non-police gun violence.
I have just as much evidence as you do. How many people are killed by the police each year? According to https://mappingpoliceviolence.org it was 1,164 last year. How many people were killed by gun violence each year? According to Gun Deaths Dropped in 2018, Excluding Suicides there were nearly 40,000 gun deaths in 2017. In 2018 there were ~14,600 non-suicide fatalities. Anyway you count it, going after police gun violence before going after non-police gun violence is a poor use of resources.
Yeah, you kinda are. You also don’t seem to understand that it doesn’t matter what caliber of gun the police carry they are always going to act with impunity because they are the police. None of the abuses we site about the police were carried out with military grade weapons. Government would fear the people if the people voted, which is what Trump is teaching a generation of young people to do.
Lol @ how you flagrantly misrepresent why everyone doesn’t like you. First of all, it’s because you are being a giant asshole to everyone who disagrees with you, hurling insults and misconstruing posts, lighting off high frequency attacks, etc. Second of all, my biggest disagreement with you is not about disarming police, or even that they should be disarmed first. It is that you proposed vigilantism as a response to observed police abuses.
If you consider stopping a cop from repeatedly smashing a teen’s head into the pavement vigilantism, then I guess so. I can’t even fathom the mindset of anyone who thinks the moral thing to do is stand there and watch just because the violent guy is wearing a costume
It’s all good. I’m leaving this thread. I might try my hand at others and see if my independent thinking goes over any better there. I’m already assuming not, since I’ve already taken heat for my ardent support of mostly Sanders, but also Warren, while dissing on establishment Dems such as Beto and Harris. I’m good just to leave you guys to yourselves. If I run into anyone looking to baaa with other sheep I’ll be sure to let them know about this place
Lol perfect. Yes. I don’t see the world as a better place to me if everyone shared my worldview - the real world is depressing and cruel and essentially hopeless. I dont think the majority of the unwashed masses could handle this, or the inevitability of death and irrelevance, while staring in the face of certain obliteration of everything you hold dear or ever will hold dear.
I could write a lot of words on nihilism and why it is really a liberating way to view reality but i’ll save that for another day.
As a joe schmoe atheist who knows other joe schmoe atheists i still say its you educated atheists who go looking into the doom and gloom rabbit hole to deeply that have the biggest issues. The uneducated unwashed masses who dont think about things like that to deeply will be fine.
I mean right now there are countries that are very atheistic and doing fine so the idea everyone would go crazy is just wrong on its face. Hell America is the most religious western nation and the most violent. What is having more atheists going to make things worse? Who knows maybe it would turn us into Sweden.
