I’ll admit that I may not remember the exchange perfectly and I’m not motivated to scroll back, but what I remember was someone saying something like “I’ll bet the first story the cops will tell is going to be a lie”. And then you pushing back against that.

We were in Dallas staying at the Omni next to the active shooter situation where the guy shot and killed multiple cops. They locked our hotel down, along with the surrounding area. About as close as I’ve been. So far!
Even I was shocked that police were handcuffing and tasering parents while the kids were being shot, but I just realized the parents are Hispanic. Police are probably already threatening to comb through the residency status of any families that complain.
Every time I think about the Castle Rock decision and, especially, the facts of the case behind it, it makes my goddamned blood boil.
Three children were murdered by their abusive father…because cops would not enforce a lawful protective order. And the court said the mother had no case against the police department…because the cops had no duty to enforce the goddamned laws (literally their jobs!).
And this isn’t some ancient history, Dred Scott/Plessey type shit. Several of the galaxy brained idiots involved with it were still on the court until very recently. One (Thomas the sexual predator WOAT) still is.

On that list is a school near me where a guy went in looking to kill his ex-girlfriend. He didn’t find her, but shot two teachers, killing one. The first place he looked though, was the ex-girlfriend’s home. Her mother was there and she was shot and killed. The mother was my 2nd grade teacher.
It was so early in the year that no students were there, only teachers/staff getting ready for the new year. I assume it’s very different than most of the rest of that list in that it doesn’t really qualify as a “school shooting” the way most of us think of one.
Just heard for the first time that victims could have been spread over four classrooms rather than just one as police have stated. I heard that from a reporter on MSNBC. Of course, who the fuck knows at this point if this is true. But yeah, the cop narrative is already proving to be completely broken, and it seems to make more sense not to believe anything they say at this point, rather than believing everything they say.
Right - I can’t think of a single situation where as more facts came out the cops looked better/more heroic. So if initial reports are showing cops were incompetent in some ways, it’s a very safe bet that when all the facts are out, the cops are going to look even worse.
And sadly, while out side spends day after day nitting about the various ways that our side sucks, he gets to not only stay in power, he will be chairing a congressional committee this time next year because their side remains united against us. I have never felt more hopeless.
