But you have to vote for people to be mods. We can’t be choosers. We are not going to have an all star slate of mod candidates in two months.
This is what short term mod rotations being. People need to vote for them. Enough with this fantasyland things will be better in the future.
When I say egregious transgression I don’t mean petty bickering and squabbling. I am talking serious serious.
Why would someone risk going up in two months to get voted no.

I believe you will see more volunteers next go around after this trial run. If we don’t have them at that time, then we can discuss if there’s actually an issue to address.
Quite a few people voted for it for the same reason that quite a few voted for Biden.
I mean, I’m clearly not as smart as the average Captain, but it’s a lower threshold to just voting me out of office than there is to making a rule change that just has me take a 2 month break.
There’s a much lower chance of that hypothetical RFC passing the lower threshold.
Hope you enjoy your new freedom from the “intolerable” task of modding, and use your time as a free man to reflect on which things might have been done a lot better and which not done at all.
I’ve taken a few hours to simmer down. Thank you I consider this to be a good faith post. But asking me how long I think you should be banned for is sealioning BS cmon. I don’t want to fight with people I’ve “known” for 15+ years on the internet but maybe the results of these poles should be a bit of a wake up call, and I don’t think my point about saying GB should disqualify himself when its completely clear that if the situation was reversed you wouldn’t say that is unfair. I could have stated it better.

I think your intent here is good, and from history, i think you will try and do the right thing as best you can.
However, my read of the forum dynamics is that it will cause further drama. People question every mod decision even without the history. So this will likely make things worse. That really is down to some of your posting over the last few months. Something you yourself admit was a problem at times.
If the majority vote you up, of course ill give support, and work with you to keep improving the site.

The situation being reversed meaning if marty could realistically be elected and goof baller not? I’d still vote against marty in that case and agree with greg oreo’s post that it’s a bad idea for either of two of the most active feud participants to be moderator. You can believe that or not, whichever you like.
Of course me asking about your preferred ban length for me was BS, I was mad just like you were. Sorry.

Fwiw this is my current rationale for generally not throttling threads. I hope that posters will resolve grievances if given time. rather than being forced to hold onto them and then just regurgitating every few days.

I’ve basically stopped getting involved in any of this and haven’t voted but this really is like the 1980s LAPD deciding the best way to end the gang violence would be to make a crip and blood co-chief of police.
