Starting today if you make a post creepily referencing a poster’s personal life, a previous username if they have asked people not to post it, or their real name you will be banned for one week.

what the fuck is the rationale for keeping people from mentioning old screen names?

Posters have requested that people not reference their past usernames before and that simple request has been ignored and weaponized so it’s simpler to just say “don’t fucking do it” than it is to sit here and litigate every stupid instance where it happens or what does or doesn’t count as referencing an old username.

Have we considered the good idea of teaching a never-too-late-to-learn lesson to a group of educated adults that they don’t and won’t always get what they want?

I honestly don’t care much about this but a rule where you can’t post real name seems reasonable. Not being able to post other internet names seems silly. That stretches the definition of doxxing to insane levels.

I don’t even know how we are suppose to keep track of everyone’s previous usernames on every site. I guess I used the same one forever so don’t really get the whole changing my name every 6 months thing.
