National Basketball Association - 2025/2026 Season

:rotating_light:

Honestly, I’m surprised it only took one second to get rid of him at that $4mm number. I thought it would be two. Huge cap savings for the Celtics.

He’s looked hopeless offensively, other than summer league. Too bad, dude can defend like a demon, seems like a decent guy, too. Hope he can eventually become Avery Bradley. I was optimistic when the Cs got him.

Edited to add - bring me back Lonnie Walker IV with the roster spot, please and thank you.

It took two seconds for Philly to dump KJ Martin, who makes twice as much, so only one second for Springer makes sense.

Warriors going hard after kd. Even saw a rumor that Nico was trying to get kd to the mavs. I got to think there is a 50/50 chance kd gets traded at this point.

They aren’t jogging around constantly but the motions (baseball) and contact (football) are much more violent. I’m not aware of quality evidence showing that weight specifically correlates with injury risk in the NBA. Here’s an HSS study from 2010. I’m not saying it’s the definitive study but it’s probably the most-cited one for this particular thing:

No correlations were found between injury rate and player demographics, including age, height, weight, and NBA experience.

There are several from the ortho dept at Mayo (Phoenix) including this one that focused on knee injuries:

The findings in this study further support the correlation with physiologic burden and knee injury risk in NBA players. Multivariable analysis not only showed a positive correlation with minutes per game and usage rate but also that these same factors were also significantly associated with increased games missed. Notably, this was significant while controlling for confounding factors of age, body mass index, and number of games played. This finding was supported by Drakos et al., who reported player demographic factors such as age, weight, height, or years of experience in the NBA had no correlation with injuries.

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.asmr.2022.06.009

And this from a 2021 paper by an ortho group at Oxford:

Basketball playing positions (guard, forward, and center) demonstrated similar injury incidence, injured body parts, and injury temporal patterns. While no previous studies have investigated injuries stratified by basketball playing position, previous studies have investigated the relationship among player height, mass, and basketball injuries, and no relationship between height or mass and NBA injuries was observed.

Related: The one thing NBA injury research almost unanimously finds is that workload is the key predictor of injuries. That second paper I linked goes beyond minutes and games played to even link it with usage rate, which Luka also led the league in last year by a lot (36%). Relevant since the league dropped new ā€œscienceā€ that ā€œdebunkedā€ load management. That’s how every water-carrying fake news organization reported it while somehow failing to point out that the authors were employed by the NBA. And of course this was the impetus for the Player Participation Policy ahead of the new mega TV rights deal lol.

Maybe KD is not being traded.

I don’t understand the wizards they seem to be trying to get better now. what

heavily protected 2nd rounders always gets me

they are so worth it they regularly get sold for by nba money change you’d find in the couch cushion.

My guys Nekias Duncan is guessing - no sources - the goal is Butler. If the Bucks can somehow pull that off, I take back what I said!

thunder acquire theis and a 2031 2nd rounder

I think they just did it to get the 2nd rounder cause I don’t know what you can even do with 10 2nd rounders in 3 seasons. There aren’t that many roster spots.

I’ve had a theory that OKC may spend some time paying the tax in the future - owners will OK it if the team sells some of their picks to offset some of the tax penalties.

Just a theory.

Just checked in to see if we had any action. Probably last BIG move of the deadline but I bet a few other things fall now Jimmy is settled.

I don’t think this makes gs a contender.

yeah it doesnt.

just imagine being one of the young kids there and getting berated by both Draymond and Jimmy now.

What’s a ā€œprotected first rounderā€ so I don’t have to look it up?

as a concept? it means you only get the 1st round pick if it doesn’t fall in the first X places.

we don’t know the exact protection right now.
