National Basketball Association - 2025/2026 Season

I don’t remember how good he was at the end but Parish played til he was about 100.

Damn might be totally worth it just for the Cesspoole logo heat checks when the triz bucket’s been exhausted.

Caleb Martin is cheeks but he’s on the books through 2028 for less than an MLE. His contract is basically the lowball trash deal they wanted to put Grimes on and he (of course) refused. Every day low prices. #win-now-mode

yeah the biggest worry about drafting Jokic is that he retires to his horse farm in 2 years and never steps foot in america again. Jokic has never even played next to an all-star before, a competent GM would likely be able to form a dynasty around him. if you are guaranteed that he doesn’t retire for 5+ years he is a pretty easy #2 pick.

There was a really good athletic article, at least I think it was there, recently about how dad bod might actually be a lot better of an athletic form than previously thought, and used Jokic as an example - while he doesnt really excel in many physical areas, he has a few standout areas, particularly ability to change directional momentum quickly and reaction time that are otherwise hard to notice, and is B to B- on everything else, which apparently makes an elite athlete (if you’re using super granular performance metrics you only see in lab settings at least). The human body is weird

Yeah I’ve seen no evidence at all that him being “fat” is an issue. There’s no shortage of “fat” MLB and NFL players who had long careers. In some cases much fatter and taking way more abuse. Obviously the reason none of this adds up is because it’s an entirely bullshit fantasy story to cover for the real reason(s) they dumped him.

yea, i think “fat” is relative too. like most competitive weightlifters look like fatasses for instance because they have to eat 7k calories per day while training. There’s a 300 lb hall of famer pitcher. I think it usually refers to pudginess in the midsection, which, if you’re like me at all and weight training and shoveling calories, is inevitable. I always feel at my athletic peak with that body though, rather than the more aesthetic form. I think we don’t understand a lot about this still. i know people here probably dont trust the links I post but just go look it up on web archive, its a great read.

Ive seen him play. he throws his weight around. stay fat for all i care if you can shoot 38% from the perimeter trying the ridiculous shots he does. gain more weight! lebron couldnt shoot 38% if he was always wide open. lakers need a guy like him. i’m stoked. just fire lebron’s bum ass.

baseball doesnt have too many fat players anymore at least at mlb level, it really does matter now, nobody wants the fat guy at first who can’t play defense and DH is more of a utility type of role rather than a paid slugger.

basketball doesn’t need the physicality it used to

it does matter though luka would be at least somewhat better on defense if he worked on that

did you see the pic of kershaw w his jersey off?

most famous is brady’s combine photo

a lot of centers in the 80s weren’t very athletic at all your shawn bradley types

this whole idea that your dad bod totally could stop it just stop

regardless, someone should definitely post that article somewhere where h&F loco could see it, he’d stroke out

You can’t pull fat

This entire convo is straight up gaslighting (which was the entire point). Dude led the league in minutes played last year while completely dominating. But here’s another reason we know this is made-up psychobabble:

[Fedor] According to my sources, the Dallas Mavericks were feeling like it could end up being a Joel Embiid -type situation

Embuust is 7’0" and started his NBA career by missing the first two seasons entirely with knee and foot injuries. That’s like not signing Juan Soto because you’re worried about another DeGrom. To top it off, they address this injury risk concern by dumping him for Anthony Glass Joe Davis.

Luka has also been playing full year schedule cause he never gives up on his national team stuff. Playing pro since he was 16.

While you -could- argue that he has strained himself too much over the past decade, it’s a joke to trash Luka’s physique.

Son not like father.

unsure if it was here or somewhere else, but I’ve maintained strength is the most underrated trait in basketball by a huge margin. If you are giving up 60 pounds and go to finish against a help defender in legal guarding position you will initiate the contact and bounce off and lose your balance/ability to finish in a controlled manner.

The other way you practice all the time, hit the pads and re-balance a split second later to finish easily. It helps with rebounding a ton too. I think Dean on Draft did some regression a while ago and found the best predictors of defensive ability for prospects were 1. Stocks 2. wingspan 3. Weight
