National Basketball Association - 2025/2026 Season

unless I’m missing something I don’t see a glaring issue with #2?

2025 attempted threes per game:
top five:
boston 48.5 // chicago 43.2 // golden state 42.2 // cleveland 41.1 // charlotte 40.1

bottom five:
indiana 34.3 // lakers 33.7 // clippers 33.6 // toronto 32.4 // denver 30.9

2005 attempted threes per game:
top five:
OKC 23.6 // new orleans 20.2 // boston 19.3 // sacramento 18.1 // dallas 17.7

bottom five:
philly 12.1 // denver 12.1 // minnesota 11.7 // utah 9.6 // cleveland 9.6

so just pick your max number of threes that you’ll allow per game per team,
say 30 or whatever
and then in the last three minutes of the game the limits go out the window and teams can shoot as many as they want. In OT each team gets three attempts and then the last minute is a free for all, whatever. Or the fourth quarter is a free for all. Who cares

maybe it would be dumb in practice but would this really change gameplay in some crazy way? yes defenses would tighten up as you approached and then went over the limit, but that would put a little strategic onus on teams to budget them a little. And you could still shoot from deep if you were over the limit, it would just count as a two.

And then when Poole or Valentine or Rex Grossman get in a mood and start fucking chucking come what may, it’s even dumber and funnier

he can be as fat as he wants if he keeps shooting like that, shooting has long been the lakers achilles heel

Love seeing soft ass low stake grinders calling professional athletes names.

The mavs front office screwed up his initial deal making him a free agent a year early and then didn’t make an offer until it was too late. They screwed the pooch hard. Brunson showed himself in that WCF run.

Being fat didn’t stop him from being a leader in minutes played and play 40 minutes a game through to the finals. His weight issues are way overblown and part of his game is his size.

Strength is the most underrated ‘skill’ in the NBA. Still Luka would be better if he took care of himself better, probably a diet thing.

Jokic is arguably in the middle of the greatest peak of all time right now and he’s super durable so you can’t go wrong taking him. It’s like arguing 30 year old Lebron vs 26 year old KD, drafting KD/Luka will get you to a bunch of WCFs but I think you still win more rings going with Jokic/Lebron even in the shortened time frame

I don’t know much about Martin but became a fan of grimes. I guess I don’t really care any more.

How Nico Harrison envisioned the Mavs fanbase reacting:

I watched one game w Grimes in it. Super impressed w him. Quick brain w steals and aware passes. He’s an athlete and a player!
My 15 yo Sixers fan is happy. Didn’ like Caleb Martin.

Grimes had some really good games in his short career but this is also his 4th team in 4 seasons which is a bit alarming. Very inconsistent but also Caleb Martin is the epitome of mid, so who cares.

Yeah grimes is only 24, has a good three pointer, can play some d. Got decent handles, can create his own shot.

we’re definitely at the everyone is calling the mavs stage of “can we fleece these idiots” do we like someone on that roster and give them someone we don’t?

mavs and sixers play today so the players don’t have to go far

it’s like the old baseball trade where it’s like ok you go to that other dugout now

The Mavs and Grimes were far apart on extension talks last fall. Clearly, they don’t want to pay his next contract while the Sixers do.

Yeah he was a rfa and was going to get a big offer. Max Christie made him expendable. Still don’t like it as a trade value for value.

Sure - but given Mavs just made a huge win now trade, who cares if he leaves after this season - especially if the return is Caleb Martin.

The Mavs could miss the playin this year. They went 14-3 before Luka got hurt on Christmas. Martin and Davis are both injured to some degree.

What’s your upside without a top 10 guy? Davis is not top 10 but top 20. I just don’t feel you are in the mix without a top guy.

Jokic, sga, Tatum, ant, Luka, etc . I even think it potentially limits Cleveland but they have such a strong roster top to bottom they might be able to overcome their best player being tier 2.

I thought Nico improved the Mavs roster over last year. But now we can’t ever see if they got healthy. This new team lacks a tier 1 superstar and a playmaker. I don’t see them having a better chance even if they are better defensively.

davis is top 10 this year

You also can’t compare Jokic to other centres whose games relied on athleticism. He will last as long as he wants to.

I don’t believe that makes any difference for when they fall off

well my first thought was portland’s sabonis but he was nowhere near jokic’s level anyway

idk man I guess with today’s conditioning we believe the ygo longer but I can’t remember a center since what jabbar going that long that effective?

looking it up jabbar made it to 38, he was still all star after that but shouldn’t have still that’s the last one I can think of maybe someone else can chime in. or sort of tim duncan
