National Basketball Association - 2025/2026 Season

I’m a Knicks fan, but I don’t really know the Jalen Brunson story.

Did the Knicks just have the special sauce to create a superstar, or did the Mavs miss something very basic?

Brunson and Luka dont fit well together since they both need the ball to be effective

He was already very good with the Mavs (and in college of course). Not superstar good but very good. Why he left is either Mavs didnt give him the extention when he wanted (his story) or that his dad (knicks assistant coach) and Leon Rose (knicks president and his godfather) wanted him in NY.

This is Cuban’s story but I think he could have signed him before that

reminded me of that

I think that’s the first time the Bucks have done that this year. Second of a B2B and their second 3 games in 4 days stretch in a week.

Is this something that should be obvious to everyone? I’m an NBA casual fan these days, and my top two in this scenario are Wemby and Jokic. How wrong am I?

luka wouldn’t be 2nd with his current issues but he’s top 5

SGA very easily arguable over luka too Giannis could be a maybe. Really depends how much you like luka’s personality or not.

Jokic is 29, centers drop off past early 30’s. Denver wouldn’t trade Jokic for Luka though.

I would for sure go Wemby and SGA over Luka. Obviously I’m biased, but Giannis is easily better than Luka, especially because of defense, but the 5-year age difference could be reason for pause in a theoretical redraft. Jokic is clearly better, too, but again, age, fitness, size, and desire to play long term would be considerations.

Another massive trade

Have the 3-point line be not painted onto the court but a laser line that randomly appears and disappears throughout the course of play (but for equal lengths of time/posessions for each team). When it lights it’s an opportunity you’d better take advantage of. When it’s off, everything’s a two-point bucket.

Wemby is clearly #1.
Jokic is turning 30 this month and while he’s the best player in the world easily right now, you can’t pick him for a franchise before Luka.
Obviously you could argue all kind of things about Luka’s “issues”. No one thought they are issues until 3 days ago. Lets say this pretend draft was this summer i’m positive Luka goes 2nd.

Clearly i’m not gonna argue to the death against someone preferring SGA (giannis seems a bit of stretch to me).

Either way an “issue-less” Luka is suppose to be untradable in any scenario. It’s a guessing game for us if those issues are really a thing.

That trade does something with protections on an OKC or DEN pick but nobody really knows exactly what it does

enough mavs people got fired and ended up elsewhere lately that people knew around the league about that stuff just not that he was on the block.

2029 1 - via DEN
only if and at least two years after DEN conveys a first potential 1st round pick to OKC, then DEN’s next potential 1st round pick to OKC protected for selections 1-5 in 2029 and 1-5 in 2030; if DEN has not conveyed this next potential 1st round pick to OKC by 2030, then DEN will instead convey its 2030 2nd round pick to OKC

okc just got den’s 2030 2nd pick from elsewhere maybe this just locks that condition in and they might not have gotten it otherwise. weird as heck trade but it’s gotta be something like that

OKC now has 5 2029 2nds and 4 2030 2nds

I don’t think you can g league stash all of them

maybe some NBA team is gonna try that and see what happens, trade their own 2nd rounder a few times conditionally and let the office sort out who gets it

Someone asked about the super-max issues before. one of the reasons for it is so once a team get a hold of a young superstar they can actually keep him and not lose him to, well, the Lakers.

Luka had 117 million reasons to stay a Mavs for the entire prime of his career and the Mavs somehow managed to make him a Laker anyhow.

I’ve personally questioned his issues for years. I have my doubts about him ever winning a title if he continues to suck at defense when it matters.

Those are not his “issues”.

They’re his issues when they’re caused by him being a fat fuck who never changes.
