National Basketball Association - 2022/23 Season (Part 1)

Are you trying to tell me that the Bucks have had shitty drafts? idontbelieveyou.gif

As a relative newcomer to NBA, why is the mavs salary situation so bad if they only really have Luka?

It was a draft day trade that was agreed to before Dirk was picked but not announced until later.

Voted Jah bc Memphis has the most ship equity of any team in the 2020s

And a couple of those are fallout from maxing Kristaps Porzingis and needing to find similar contracts in trade to offload him.

Memphis is right there with the Celtics but curry is the only small best player on the team who has lead his team to rings in like 20+ years. Super difficult to do. Plus his defense is so, so bad. They immediately become a top 3 defense when heā€™s out.

The big athletic two way wing is the better bet imo

Congrats to Al Horford and his wife, theyā€™re expecting their 5th child.

Knicks giving away picks to unload the guys they signed just last year. On the one hand I guess itā€™s good they realize their mistakes and arenā€™t locked in due to sunk-cost. On the other hand, seems a mistake to be doing this all for Brunson - who is a solid player - but given what they are about to pay him, doesnā€™t seem like a huge asset (and seems possibly like a guy they may dump in a few years to chase a bigger star).

Which he did the only year he ever got help there.

The first season 33 year old Sprewell and 34 year old Cassell showed up they were tops in the west. The next year they both nosedived and were gone. (Spre with the infamous turning down of a 3/21 bc he had to ā€œfeed his family.ā€)

Itā€™s sad because he probably needed more money to pay his expenses, as he declared bankruptcy a few years later. So probably bankruptcy was inevitable no matter what sort of contract he got. You donā€™t hear about these sorts of stories these days like you used to 15 or 20 years ago so hopefully athletes are getting better advice and counseling on how to manage their windfall fortunes.

I went to a Timberwolves game at his peak. His stats were an average 18/10. However, he was clearly the center of the game. When Garnett was on offense every defender tracked his every move. On defense Garnett was directing traffic, guarding the rim, switching onto everybody. The opponent had a tiny point guard who got hot. Garnett picked him up full court and shut him down. The rest of the Timberwolves were so bad and Garnett kept them in the game by himself. His value greatly exceeded his stats.

Atlanta should keep Collins now and trade Trae.

you donā€™t make a move like this then trade your best player

I like Murray but heā€™s only a bargain for two more years, then heā€™s getting a max. Thatā€™s a lot of picks to give up.

Malone wasnā€™t even the greatest player on his team, 21 is way too high. Should be down with Kobe somewhere in the 30s.

Miles Bridges arrested for felony domestic violence. A few days before he signed a max. Glad that piece of shit fucked up before he got paid.

Also Karl has the dumbest nickname. His nickname is more overrated than he is. Although it did set up an all time great burn
