National Basketball Association - 2022/23 Season (Part 1)

I’m a Lakers fan, so believe me, I get it.

It’s lose-lose for me.

Ah, times before when basketball was dead to me.

This also came across my feed today:

Yeah I don’t think he’s at his peak but he’s clearly still an elite player

Such a good series. Celtics still shooting way above expectation from 3. 50% in game 1 and 40% in game. So I think that’s going to cool down a ton to their normal about 35% from 3, and they haven’t really shown they can slow down this warriors offense that much.

That said Klay seems to be struggling a lot with the defense, and if he can’t at least be average I don’t see how they win the series.

Will be interesting to see how games 3 & 4 go. Very weirdly they are much worse at home the entire playoffs. 9-3 on the road now, 5-4 at home. Their stats in every catagory are way worse at home. Wonder if it’s just variance because they’re a super inconsistent team in general, or there is something about being at home and pressure that makes them struggle.

Think it goes 7 and GSW pull it out due to experience and Boston just being more worn down from all their long series. That said there is so much variance, if it goes 7, it could just come down to if either team gets hot from 3

Might come down to which team is better at ducking injuries.

True, GP2 is huge for us. Hopefully everyone is able to stay healthy though. Obviously Rob is a concern, but they’ve been better with him out and Horford at the 5. That said if Rob can’t play then Theis gets more minutes which is super rough for them.

Honestly, if I were Boston, I would have tried to run Payton into a hard pick left side first to test just how good his elbow felt.

Pretty neat that Boston has 4 losses in Zarba games (1 win in g1 VS the Nets)… and are 12-3 otherwise these playoffs.

Surely it’s a coincidence.

Damn Zarba making the Celtics have so many games where they turn over the ball 15+ times and lose.

Celtics are just super inconsistent. Have games where they fall apart, play sloppy, and turn it over a ton. I haven’t seen any games they lost that you could point to and say refs fucked them. Most of their losses are blowouts from them playing badly.

Unless maybe a bucks game where they allowed Giannis to just run them over.

They do tend to get rattled by bad calls that go against them. I think they feel like they have to be heroes to overcome the refs and try to force passes and shots that they shouldn’t. They haven’t learned how to adapt well to different referee styles, preferring to complain too much.

Surely Jaylen’s second foul for not even touching GP2 didn’t matter. Nope. Second best player sitting after scoring 13 of your first 22 points, then proceeding to score a whopping 4 points the rest of the game doesn’t impact the outcome.

If you think they allowed the same contact both ways I don’t know what to tell you. It’s easy to get turnovers and run out wide open 3s when the floor balance is off due to uncalled hacks.

And then of course they just outright admit live on air that Draymond should be ejected but they won’t because finals - which he also confirmed after the game. Pretty cool he gets the benefit of the doubt after such a brilliant track record. I’m eagerly awaiting the same discretion when Smart “accidentally” falls on Steph then does what Draymond did next game.

Call me a Homer I don’t give a fuck at this point. I just want to watch a fucking basketball game, not refball. The Warriors are even my second favorite team and Steph has been my favorite non-Celtic since college.
Game 1 actually had a flow. This was bullshit.

Boston has complained a ton about calls the last 3 series.

Warriors were the much better team last night. the officiating was heavily in favor of the warriors (I say that as someone who thinks the a Celtics have gotten a pretty favorable whistle all playoffs), but the warriors win that game 100% of the time regardless of the refs

My least favorite trait of this team is whining to the refs. Every fucking time a whistle is blown

Guess the C’s just can’t hang if they get anything resembling a fair whistle

I’ve complained plenty in super close games where reffing actually made a difference but doing in a huge blow out seems silly.

Celtics will have games with favorable reffing after they lose again I’m game 3 :)

Good video on adjustments. Series going to be a 7 game chess match

Awesome to see dray on a great player instead of just helping under the basket. Dude absolutely locked up brown and put that dude in jail. Will be interesting to see how Boston tries to counter that

I’m coming around on the Warriors. It’s hard not to root for a homegrown team that is this good. I’ll never really be a Draymond fan because of his antics but he’s undeniably a basketball genius.
