That’s why I’m looking forward to the finals. Either Boston continues getting games rigged for them and Warriors fans get mad, or Warriors win and we get to lol at Boston.
Yeah, seems bad that the refs can just take away 3 points from a team like that. Especially minutes later.
No way to know how the game would’ve played out differently.
I don’t believe this is true. This is what the NBA’s rules say regarding three point shot reviews. Take a look at #3.
Reviewable Matters:
- Made field goal was scored correctly as a 2pt FG or 3pt FG
- A player fouled was attempting a 2pt FGA or 3pt FGA
- Shooter committed a boundary line violation immediately prior to the release of the shot
- 24-second violation occurred prior to the ball being released or foul occurring
Thought Strus traveled, so the on court refs missed two calls. Thankfully Replay got it right!
Happened in the Bucks - Cs series, too. Pritchard had one taken away. C’s won by like 30 so it didn’t matter.
Is it really worth the angst either way?
Reminds me of how refs used to (not sure how common it is now) correct a missed foul call on a play resulting in the ball going out of bounds. If it was close and the ref took a few extra seconds to process that they missed the foul, they would just award the ball to the team that didn’t get the foul call.
I think the only angst is from people mad the refs got the correct call.
For me - the three point review process is the best in all pro sports.
- Doesn’t stop the game
- Very black and white. Was his toe on the line or not. Was the ball in his hand at 0.0 or not.
If a review is going to change a play, it needs to happen right away, not 2:36 of game time later and 5:11 of actual time later. There were multiple stoppages of play in between in which the basket was not reversed. There’s also the factor that the video evidence didn’t actually show him out of bounds.
The reviews ESPN showed aren’t the only ones the league has access to.
Were you upset at the NBA when they took 3 Celtics points off the board against the Bucks? Of course not. Neither was I! They got the call right.
Cs got up huge after the 3 was overturned and then refs started letting the Heat foul with even more impunity to get them back into the game. That allowed Heat to build massive momentum and put huge potential choke job pressure on the Cs.
So overturning the 3 changed the flow of the game in a way that actually net helped the Heat.
That picture doesn’t show what you think it does. I honestly don’t remember whatever 3 you’re talking about from Cs/Bucks, but yeah I’m against changing calls several minutes after they happened.
Maybe he did step out of bounds i have no idea, but this pic doesn’t show it.
Add me to the list of people who can’t tell with 100% certainty that he is out based on that photo.
Well, it’s a good thing the NBA review official could tell conclusively!

You guys see the last two minute reports for Games 6 and 7? Officials missed 6 calls in favor of the Heat. Just two for the Celtics. Gotta hope the reffing improves in the finals.
The hard part is telling where the shadow ends and the bottom of his shoe begins.
I agree that Heat seemed to have more of the questionable ones go their way, especially down the stretch.
I assume they had a better angle than what you posted here.
Also missing calls in the last two minutes in favor of the heat and against the celtics really do not move Strus feet in the picture you showed. I’m not sure why you think it does. The picture is static, it cannot change based on future and past refs mistake.
It really isn’t. You’re able to tell his right foot is on the ground, right?
That was a separate paragraph and thought. The two weren’t related. I just assumed since there was so much discussion over NBA Replay correctly turning over the Strus play, there’d be some terrific discussion over why so many L2M calls in games 6 and 7 went in the Heat’s favor.
My opinion is simple human error. But I know we have some conspiracy theorists here!
Guess what the chances are of the Celtics winning the title according to LOL538?
