National Basketball Association - 2022/23 Season (Part 1)

I did not have Booker and Jokic pushing match in my bingo card for these playoffs.

Hahahahhahaa MVP

Bill Simmons sub is saying Harden is better than KD.

Also Steph was better than KD.

And KD is not a top 15 all time player.

Kyrie got hurt? Sucks to lose a top one player like that.

The Athletic doesnā€™t really write bullshit. Iā€™d believe the article over Cuban.

if someone asked me to describe my dream athletic piece i wouldnā€™t be able to come up with something as perfect as that

Zero chance Haralabob isnā€™t calling the shots for Dallas. No other way he would take an NBA job and he has said as much.

Why?

It sounds super juicy. I ā€œknowā€ Bob. I have uninteresting incomplete thoughts on both him and Luka. I like gossip.

Just this paragraph is porn for me:

Voulgaris, sitting with an open laptop in his typical courtside seat across from the Mavericksā€™ bench, motioned downward with his hands, which Doncic specifically interpreted as Voulgaris telling him to calm down, multiple team and league sources tell The Athletic. Doncic snapped back, telling Voulgaris, according to one sourceā€™s recollection, ā€œDonā€™t fucking tell me to calm down.ā€

Iā€™m not proud, the heart wants what it wants.

For whatever reason I always root for Hbob to succeed with the Mavs even though he is kind of a dick. I guess because heā€™s been around since the early 2p2 days and has always been super entertaining and his track record as a gambler, in writing, on podcasts, etc has been pretty incredible

This reads like an implied ā€œbut how much did you lose???ā€ to me:

The way Voulgaris tells it ā€” the ESPN feature is the only notable reporting ever focused on him, and he declined an interview request from The Athletic shortly after being hired ā€” he began gambling on the NBA in the late 1990s and had made millions by the early 2000s. His success, he says, came in part from an instinctual reading of certain coaches. It finally failed him during the 2003-04 season, causing him to lose much of his gambling wealth and step away temporarily, only returning once heā€™d developed an analytics model that brought back his old edge.

I think the dude had enough success for a life time that I feel fine rooting for whatever gives me the most entertainment.

Iā€™d much rather the analytic nerds with poor people skills win out over the meat head coaches and players.

It does read like an agent/employee has an axe to grind. Not a ton of substance, just anger.

Iā€™d go with Luka agent trying to get him fired.

He ran hot

My favorite Hbob story is how he was staying with Paul Phillips and they were watching a WPT that HV was on and PP had hacked his DVR so that the description called him something along the lines of ā€œuppity playwrightā€.

Good.

Related: Harden and Kyrie ruled out for Game 5. If the Bucks canā€™t win, time for a new coach. DDVā€™s absence has been noticeable, but obviously heā€™s not the loss that Harden and Kyrie are.
