@RiskyFlush where is your Ready or Not 2 review?
Thank you for the reminder!! I just got back from vacation. Forgot it came out.
Return to Oz is not better than the 10/10 masterpiece that was the original, but I gotta respect it. Under-appreciated gem.
It might not be better, but it feels more rewatchable to me.
This.
Yoooo these advance reviews say the movie CRUSHES.
I watched the original every year for like twenty years. I donāt think I rewatched return once,
Madness; original Oz is extremely rewatchable.
I do love how completely weird Return is, no way Hollywood is ever letting people get this crazy with a franchise like this. The visuals and designs are all tremendously creative and they fit perfectly with the franchise, even though theyāre disturbing as all getout.
I never said the original wasnāt rewatchable.
I donāt think Return to Oz is disturbing.
never knew this. neat

We dissected that here a bunch when it came out. You must have missed it. Itās very cool for sure.
Ive heard conflicting, Jahns basically said it wasnt much more than a remake that was not quite as good but Weaving and Gellar are outstanding.
A remake with the MCs sister added and fuckin Frodo Baggins in the cast means itās already at least āgoodā and may even be very good to great.
With Nicholas Brendon dying this interview with the director of Coherence popped up and damn, two things. First, the movie was way more complex than I thought. Like I got the general idea but turns out every single thing was thought out. And second the movie could have been a disaster. He didnāt give them a script but gave each person cards about what they were supposed to do in each scene and didnāt tell them any of the twists or what anything meant so their confusion was genuine.
Donāt read if you havenāt seen the movie. Seriously, itās spoilery and the movie needs to be seen without spoilers
Empire, Pirate Edition
Project Hail Mary (2026)
I canāt really overstate how much I love the book. I was so worried about the movie. Within minutes all my worries were gone. This is an all time contender for best book adaptation. I loved every minute of it. No notes. They kept everything they had to, and removed what made sense.
Funny as hell.
Made me cry several times.
Outstanding visual effects.
Stunningly beautiful.
Lord and Miller are Tarantino minus the N-word. They are the three best pastiche directors of all time. This film not only knows it owes a ton to previous science fiction, it is a beautiful homage every time it references something.
Itās very hard to imagine Iāll see a better film this year.
Seeing it again tomorrow.
Grade: A+
Itās really at its base, a feel good buddy movie about how people can be good. What better time for a film with those themes.
P.S. the Dune trailer on imax looked pretty sick.
I also saw Hail Mary. Good but didnāt blow my socks off. I probably need to think about it some more.
