Did you want to fling the movie into the sun?
Is the end ‘ow ow ow’…credits?

Couldn’t look away. Absolutely loved it. I actually started to predict the ending around halfway through and couldn’t help but chuckle when it got there. Good stuff.
4/5
So it turns out that the Fugitive was the best movie ever made
This is basically the origin story of the former leftist now right wing nut job Naomi Wolfe as brilliantly documented in Naomi Klein’s book
It’s on the top ten most rewatchable list for sure, which is even more impressive for a twist movie.
Same
In what way?
Or will this be obvious if I just read the book ![]()
She was a feminist left winger and then she wrote this book called Outrages: Sex, Censorship, and the Criminalization of love
It heavily relied on Victorian death records and live in an interview a guy pointed out she totally misunderstood what “death recorded” meant in the records, rendering her major conclusion. incorrect. It basically broke her brain and turned her into a right wing nut case.
Klein’s book is highly worth a read. It’s a great examination of how we all got here. She is a great writer too. Her husband is running for the NDP leadership right now (our left wing party).
Okay I see what you mean. That had to be embarrassing.
I’m not as familiar with the story as you, but from a brief amount of research, was she really humiliated to the same extent? I read that her misunderstanding undermined merely two pages of text (which she revised), not the entire book.
Ya it undermined one of her major conclusions. The book is still in publication I think.
That is embarrassing for her, but is it not fine for the book to still be in print if her error was found on merely two pages that have since been revised?
Ya it is a bit trite to say the error caused her to be a right wing nutjob but Klein makes a good case it was the catalyst along with lots of other stuff.
I had forgotten she just revised those few pages.
The movie is decent but I feel compelled to mention that many things are unrealistic and would basically never happen in this way in the real world.
In particular, for a student to present a proof so flawed that another phd student can detect the problem based on a seminar talk would be a massive massive professional mistake from the student’s phd advisor, and would be seen as such by everyone (so the guy would behave very differently than what is depicted in the film)
(also typically if ppl suspect a mistake they are usually quite discrete about it and mention it privately afterwards, although from another younger person I guess asking in front of everyone could be possible)
Cruel Intentions, another great 90s teen movie from my childhood.
Sacre bleu! I am just glad someone else has seen it.
I didn’t see it as a student deliberately exposing a flaw. I thought they were asking a genuine question and expected her to have a good explanation for how to bypass the empty value of N.
Good point about the professor ![]()
Marty Supreme (2025)
I cannot think of a film I’ve ever seen with a bigger delta between its critical acclaim and how much I loathed it. I hated everything about this movie. It’s the worst writing I can think of in a recent film. It is a random unconnected series of scenes thrown together without regard for narrative. It literally forgets its antagonist is deaf halfway through the film. There are random plot lines that never resolve. No character acts like a real human at any point. No characters motivations make any sense. The soundtrack is awful with blaring ahistorical pop music trying to fill the yawning chasm in the poorly written stakes, in a fruitless effort to make us care about the ping pong. It’s genuinely ugly looking as if it was filmed on a 1980s camcorder. It ends with a chorus of screaming babies which is maybe the best metaphorical ending it could have had.
Irredeemable trash. I feel like an alien that this is a frontrunner for a ton of awards.
Grade: F-
Ok just saw an add for Greenland 2. wtf is Greenland?

Greenland is a fucking AWESOME asteroid apocalypse movie. Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin!!
Damn. So they put out Uncut Gems…
Then one brother put out The Smashing Machine lol.
And now from the other brother Marty Supreme does not sound much better.
A shame. The Filmcast says it sucks (minus Jeff) in part because it’s like ugh, yet another movie about some white dude aspiring for greatness at any cost. Jeff was riveted, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the two hosts of color are tired of that trope.
