Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 2)

Brian Cox probably dislikes him more than Logan Roy did.

From the interviews I saw he didn’t seem to dislike him. He just thought it was silly and going to hurt himself.

In most interviews I’ve seen with him, he really can’t stand his style and it irritates him to no end.

Time for everyone to make the same comment whenever behind a log truck.

Miami Vice (2006)

During the first act, I feared that it was exactly as you said. But the first meeting with Yero locked me in, and the movie had me from that point forward. Actually loved it.

Funny, I talked myself into it with, ā€œwell, it’s Mann, at least it will look good,ā€ and honestly I think it looks worse than most of his movies. And at an early point I made peace with the possibility that I was just going to have to appreciate it as a vibes movie with little other expectation. Not so. Once I got on the movie’s wavelength, I really came to care about the characters and the story.

Pleasant surprise here.

nice, glad to have been wrong (although I’ll admit to be confused how you can enjoy this one while thinking it doesn’t look good, but hey as long as it’s getting the Twisters 4 I’m not complaining)

Well it did require me to eventually turn subtitles on. It was tough to get acclimated in the early going with half the damn lines being mumbled.

I think some of you guys like classic noir here, the new Criterion Argentine Noir collection is worth checking out. Two I’ve seen so far are The Bitter Stems, a cracking suspense tale with a real Hitchcock vibe and The Beast Must Die, which is a revenge movie with a great cast.

Public Enemies (2009)

I’m still looking for the bad Michael Mann movie. This was not it. It’s weaker than the majority of his catalog and is still a good movie. Fun set pieces, really good pacing…I was only at ā€œthis is okayā€ at the halfway point, but the slow burn worked and had me fully engrossed for what I thought was a very effective final act.

I guess it will be Blackhat’s turn soon.

Holy shit.

  1. I dont give a shit what your scale is. 0.

Made it ten minutes. Think of everything terrible about Amy Schumer, then combine it with everything terrible about the worst Happy Madison movies.

Goddamn.

Unfortunately, Amy peaked with her 12 Angry Men (2015) sketch on her former show. It’s been pretty much a downward slide ever since.

Even LeBron was better than she was in Trainwreck, which was stupid movie saved only by Bill Hader and LeBron.

Whatever you think happened is what happened. The movie was very predictable, including the jokes.

Let it be said tho that her sketch show RULED for a while.

My wife mentioned this yesterday, hopefully she’ll watch it alone :harold:
