Clocking in for first showing and watching all four because gotDAM
Predator then Robocop. Donāt think Iāve seen Lost Boyz
100
Lost boys is weird. FMJ is a great movie but not exactly fun time.
Predator
Robocop
Lost boys
Full metal jacket
As mentioned FMJ is great but not exactly fun.
Usually catch lost boys once a year on AMC around Halloween time. The beginning of that movie always bums me out now because it reminds me of a time when young people occupied most public spaces all day everyday, just hanging out and being social. I feel like we are so far removed from that culture and itās hard to imagine itās ever coming back.
Watching The Warriors (1979) for the first time. Four minutes in and Got Damn this soundtrack rules.
Oh hell yeah enjoy
Verdict: This movie rules.
I only saw Rubocop when I was like 10 or something but I thought it sucked.
However, I strongly consider FMJ a fun movie.
Buh?
I mean maybe if you delete like the middle 10 minutes of FMJ. But those middle 10 minutes are the whole point of the film.
Try robocop again
Think it resonates well with todays age of automation and vacuous moguls.
Robocop is one of those films that seems like a kid should like it but it is too satirical for most youngsters. Try watching it again and you might like it.
Been delving into the less iconic movies of the 1930s, and I find that Iām kind of blown away by the fact that I never even knew of William Powellās existence. Dude was great. Loved The Thin Man, loved Libeled Lady. Glad thereās a bunch of Thin Man sequels that are all graded as solid. My Man Godfrey seems to be one of his top-rated ones; Iāll watch that too.
Libeled Lady is on Tubi. It also has Spencer Tracy. Him Iāve known of forever, and he does some good stuff too (really like him on screen with IRL wife Katharine Hepburn), but Iāve quickly found that heās not as much of a draw for me as Powell is.
Every subsequent Thin Man movie is less good then the previous, but the first 2-3 are better and smarter then pretty much any comedy since the 40s.
Just watched My Dinner with Andre for the first time. I thought it was a really interesting concept for a movie and will definitely require revisiting to think about the dialogue more.
Who says semaglutide doesnāt have side effects?
The Thin Man movies are fantastic, hold up very well.
If you like those and havenāt seen Libeled Lady, I definitely recommend it. Itās more of Powell with Myrna Loy (among others, but still). Those two had crackling chemistry.
