I think I turned this off once it got to the violence when I saw it twenty years ago but man watching it through to the end this was a really good fucking movie. Honestly, a classic in retrospect.

I got tired of it when it was just gratuitous sexytimes, but I got into it when it turned into gratuitous violence. The ending is pretty good. Hope youāll check out part 2.

Its mostly Sony stuff, not sure if Here falls under that category, but I know all the first gen Spider man and Spiderverse stuff are locked
Part two I believe has an absolutely brutal scene that is shot really well but I still hate a lot.

If Iām understanding correctly, the only voting so far was to determine the nominees. The voting on the nominees starts on 2/11.

Companion (2024)
This movie is 100 times smarter than I expected. Itās also not the movie I was expecting at all. Total thrill ride. I was smiling from start to end.
My favourite horror thriller since Barbarian.
Grade: A

when i heard they were going to do a second spinoff tv series from star trek discovery, i said āgreat! the first spinoff was fantastic, and they got michelle yeoh, this could really be somethingā. but then time went by and they said, āwell actually itās just going to be a movieā and i said, ānot a good sign but if you fit all the good parts of a bad season of tv, it could be a fun 2 hoursā. boy was i wrong. this is the dumbest movie iāve seen in a while and iāve watched some dumb movies lately (gladiator 2)

Been on a shitty action movie kick inspired by the How Did This Get Made Pod. All of these are movies i watched as a kid but havenāt seen in a long time.
Cobra - this is surprisingly dark for the times I think. The new world order cult is absurd, 5 separate shots of 10 guys in a dark warehouse banging axes together is lol bad. Pretty sure main bad guy doesnāt talk until the final standoff. Stallone is pretty bad in this and his action movements are so dumb. Heās got a sick look going though and his long overcoat is on point. The laser sub machine gun is obviously cool. 2.5/5
Tango and Cash - actually a decent plot (even if the specifics are awful) but i got a little bored, this is comedic buddy cop type stuff. Stallone as the suited up finance bro actually works, Russell is good and his hair is amazing. The villain sucks, bit light on action. 3/5
Universal Soldier - lol 
They die in the late 60s in Vietnam, bodies are immediately transferred to some secret government program but then we donāt get the super soldier squad until the 90s? Needs more action we barely get any. Lundgren is good and pairing him with JCVD is cool at least. 2/5
Total Recall - this one is pretty great. Lots of action and kind of gratuitous violence for the times. Arnold does his thing. Iāll probably try out the modern remake, never seen it. 4/5

Remake is decent. Thereās no need for it, though, since the original is a classic. Nobody remembers the remakle because it was completely unnecessary. If the original didnāt exist, then the newer one wouldāve been received better.
