He’s done a lot of biopics.
The only thing worrisome about this poll (no it is not Bill James) is that it was so close.
Obviously the final poll result is right.

I would add while the internet has drastically changed the perception on what the greatest movie or movies are, pre internet, Citizen Kane was widely touted by a large number of poser sophisticates as the best movie ever.
Dreadful list without Vertigo at or near the top.
And yes, CK is overrated and a somewhat flashy vehicle for technique.
CK is the earliest I’ve seen that actually feels modern and watchable. I’ve seen older classic movies like Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, but they just feel weird and alien and mostly boring. Idk about GOAT, I only saw CK once, but I remember being impressed by it.
Almost all boomers i suspect. It used to be the cocktail party answer for best movie. Not to out there to make you look totally pretentious and aloof but enough credibility to give you the shine that you might know what you are talking about.
Now it just means you are stuck in a weird time warp of fauxness.
How about the Wizard of Oz (1939)?
Yes, I think it became something of a busted flush once every dickhead knew what to say about its innovations.
Haven’t seen it in forever, but you’re probably right. I guess I never knew it was that old, because it has color.
You can’t critique a movie like CK from a modern lens. It literally invented most of what we think today as film language.
It’s like saying a Model T is the best car ever made. Without it there are no other cars.
Not really. That was down more to Eisenstein.
The movie begins in B&W, but shifts into color when the door opens into Oz.
It was one of the first widely seen movies in color. For my then 8 year old mother, sitting in a dark theater, this was her first experience with watching color moving pictures.
As the kids would say, her mind was blown.
Greatest movie ever made is obviously Black Panther.
I’ll see myself out now.
Safety Not Guaranteed (2012)
Rewatched this. I remembered being charmed by the movie, but on the re-watch it fell pretty flat. Mark Duplass is supposed to be autistic or at least weird but he doesn’t really have the maniacal energy to pull it off so his off kilter lines fall flat, especially when he’s opposite of Audrey Plaza who can pull off her weird lines perfectly.
Other B & C plot were pretty meh and a few scenes were just clunky or shot weird. I’m looking at you fist pump in the air last scene.
The only thing that really held up was Audrey Plaza. She’s gorgeous and weird of course but this time around I noticed a lot more subtle expressions that made me really believe and enjoy her role.
I had a similar experience. I do generally love the Duplass brothers though otherwise. They did a fantastic interview with Brene Brown on her podcast Unlocking Us. May 13 “The Power of Paradox”
Aubrey is so good lol. You’re right, a lot to notice in her performances if you give it your full attention.
I really enjoyed Tenet. I think Inception is the barometer. If you liked inception, you’ll like Tenet. Pretty similar in style.
I also did not know Coogler was doing a Fred Hampton movie. It looks really good.
Once apon a time I done a little bit of acting and I don’t know why but I thought I’d post a BBC Drama I happened to appear in, alough my 1 word got cut.
It’s about a boy who has perfect attendance in his last year and wants to finish school achieving his goal… Its a bit old and I’m 14 in it & look about 12 No abuse, remember these are children.
Watching it again tonight myself is bringing back some good memories off working there with my school friends from drama class, we’re also the football team in it and made up most of the extras, my one line got cut unfortunately, but my face appears in it too much for my liking.
May I present “Leaving”
May I ask how you went to see it? Hazmat suit at AMC? What was the whole experience like besides the movie?
We don’t have AMC theatres in Canada. I went to the “VIP” theatres (the ones that serve alcohol) here, and I believe it could fill up to 25% capacity. I believe every second row being used and only the 2 seats on the edge of each row of 8.
Buying concessions was the only time I was within 15 feet of another person the entire time, wore a mask whenever not consuming food/drink.
Place was quite quiet, 930 showtime, maybe 8-10 people in the theatre.
