Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 1)

Late to this discussion but also the number of Roger Corman films that fit this description are beyond count (plus he was even in Godfather 2!).

I think GoodFellas is better because Casinoā€™s screenplay was much closer to actual events.

So, the two movies (well, not Mank either) I havenā€™t seen from two of my favorite directors is the choice tonight

The Game or Jackie Brown?

The Game is better except for the terrible ending. Just turn it off with 5 minutes left and make up your own ending.

Iā€™m sure Jackie Brown references 100 films that I never saw in a brilliant way. But Iā€™ve never had the urge to watch it again.

John Grisham approves of your plan for consumers to simply mentally fix brutally bad endings, but that really doesnā€™t work except in movies where the plot resolution didnā€™t much matter (most commonly comedies).

Omg

Both are so good.

Ignore these plebes. The ending to The Game is fantastic.

Jackie Brown is sometimes my favorite Tarantino movie. Pam Grier is unbeatable. Good bit part by Chris Tucker too.

Itā€™s been a while since Iā€™ve seen it, but I donā€™t think The Game would have been a good movie without its ending.

Took a look at Tubi. Itā€™s horror offerings in particular are awesome: The Shining, Army of Darkness, Teeth, Tremors, Candyman, The Thing, Lovecraft Country, and enough shlock to keep you entertained for years? Wow. Itā€™s a shame MrsWookie will only abide a few of these per year tops.

I will admit that Iā€™ve had the end of Jackie brown somewhat spoiled/saw a minute once while channel surfing so will probably go with the game

The Game spoiler: The most preposterous ending Iā€™ve ever seen in a movie. Somehow they calculated that Michael Douglas would be in that spot AND shoot Sean Penn AND THEN kill himself out of grief by diving through the sky light. Come on.

The sequel Doctor Sleep too!! Not the far superior directors cut but hey itā€™s free

Awesome I mean you canā€™t go wrong either way.

After you watch The Game, you need to watch (or rewatch) Game Night. The perfect double feature.

Everything in the whole movie is preposterous! Itā€™s supposed to come to a preposterous climax.

I think Iā€™m going in for The Shining tonight.

Nothing even comes close to that though. I was there with them for the rest of the stuff.

Yah this criticism to me is like going to a Fast and Furious movie and complaining thatā€™s not how cars work.

I know! Thatā€™s the price of admission for the premise of the movie lol

Thereā€™s cars doing crazy shit, and then thereā€™s someone saying 2+2=5 and expecting me to buy it because itā€™s a movie.

You forgot to mention how quickly he was cool with the whole thing.

Michael Douglas: (legit attempts suicide)
(attempt fails only due to safeguards put up by others)
Other characters: ā€œWe were just kidding!ā€
Michael Douglas: ā€œAw fuck, lolz, you got me. Well, thereā€™s a dime I have to go ask out, Iā€™ll see you gentlemen later.ā€

Just outstanding stuff.
