I’ll forever keep this tweet as a Memento
Just saw this. Great movie. Not relaxing to watch, but if you’re in the mood for good art, recommended. Cinema verite style, 1917-style no cuts. Fantastic performance from Stephen Graham in the lead role, but hard to fault the performances of any of the cast.
This is an awesome quote I’m totally stealing.
John Wick 4 was a little too much for me, definitely could have cut down the length of some of the fight scenes. More of the same John Wick stuff but turned up to 11. I did love the top down continously shot battle in an old Paris apartment building, except it brought out my vertigo.
This took me a minute.
My favorite kind of joke.
“I can tell this is clever… I’m just not sure why yet.”
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
The dialogue is so banal I thought it was a subtle parody of dumb action movies but no, it’s a genuine Sci fi action flick. Plot and dialogue aside, excellent special effects and Cara Devigne in skimpy outfits bring up the score to 3 bags of popcorn.
Maverick is now free on Prime Video
Should make a good follow up to A Few Good Men, which I watched on Tubi yesterday
Every time someone mentions Maverick without Top Gun in front of it I think of the Mel Gibson movie.
Okay so I’m glad you mentioned this movie.
It is officially Not Good. It makes you me wonder how the same person made 5th Element. the Professional. Even dumb as hell Lucy.
But the opening sequence from the earliest days of the space race to how he imagined that evolving into the titular space station is truly a must see excerpt.
Seen just as that, it can be viewed as a Perfect short film.
I nearly died in the cinema because of my vertigo. Had to stop watching the scene at some point.
