I can’t believe I’d never heard of this movie before, it is exactly in my wheelhouse: grimy neo-noir with Peter Falk and John Cassavetes. I’m loving it. Imagine if a bunch of John Wick assassins are out to kill you but then Columbo rescues you and you hang out in New York, that is the vibe of this movie.
The TMZ article (cited by the tweet) says alleged victim is his GF and they got in a fight in a cab on their way home from a bar when she tried to get his phone to see who he was texting.

So this could be like when Tiffany Haddish was pressed with charges of sexually inappropriate behavior toward a minor, but she held her tongue while evidence was forthcoming until charges were dropped.
I don’t think this is potentially like the Justin Roiland situation, where charges were dismissed because they could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, such as with Trump’s “exoneration” despite an enormous amount of evidence and testimony showing these things are true even if there are technicalities preventing legal consequences.
