I liked the Road. The movie was mostly good

what the ACTUAL fuck was that scene with the beatle. The whole point of the movie was how do you maintain your humanity in the complete absence of hope. So… they modified the movie to add hope

Sorry if this has been posted.

Very interesting nerding out on what’s happening with movie audio and why we all need subtitles.

The whole video I’m going, “Huh? I don’t get that at all.”

Get to the end to find out why: I’m super picky about audio, I never use the built in speakers in any device. Tablet/phone/PC is always good headphones, tv is always good sound system. Does anyone here actually rely on the built in speakers of any device they use?

I was flipping mindlessly through movies last night and turned on Better Off Dead. I forgot how great this movie is, and I couldn’t believe how many of the lines I was thinking to myself before they were spoken. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen this movie, but it’s obviously deeply ingrained.

Newly discovered information:
The lead singer of the band also played Dottie in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.

Sometimes it can be hard to erase the sins of the previous generations, but all one can hope is the kid is smart enough to not become a Purdue or UK fan

Being serious, yeah high school years sounds like the right time. Of course watch Breaking Away right after to properly make him a real Indiana boy, not some West Lafayette train enjoyer

I haven’t seen all of these yet, but I feel pretty confident in saying that RRR got hosed.

I would guess most people use their TV’s built-in speakers. Probably lower percentage than it was a decade ago with plenty of inexpensive soundbars on the market.

RRR got no other nominations, but at least we’re going to see a banger performance at the ceremony:

No cinematography nomination for The Batman? C’mon, that movie looked amazing.

Top Gun: Maverick deserves Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects

I smile seeing it listed with Best Picture. LOL at the promo materials from now on saying Oscar-nominated Top Gun: Maverick. It’s a good movie I just

Yeah, I didn’t really get all the hype. I very much enjoyed it, but people were talking like it was one of the best movies of all time and now it’s up for Best Picture when it was basically a remake of the first one. Again, really good movie, but putting it in the pantheon seems a bit much.

My hobby is using Photoshop to make alternate versions of movies or brand new stuff no one would ever make.

I read stuff like Michael Bay explaining what he would have done for a sequel to The Rock, and then I make fake pitch boards, screenshots, and plot outlines.

https://medium.com/@TransgenderSoapbox/the-unproduced-sequel-to-the-rock-well-unfortunately-never-see-f98a34f65083?sk=c9026d6bf9aaf3e84054102530775b68

Or the conspiracy theory that David Lynch has a secret unreleased movie. What could it be???

So I have a special fascination with the ability of AI to help explore this kind of art, like below with Jodorowsky’s Matrix.

The persistent AI-based imperfections are fine for me because if they’re that cool it would be easy for a human to clean up the silly stuff like how often it gets hands wrong.

Their IG has another where they illustrated Lord of the Rings if it had been made as live action in the 80s.

Really fucking cool.

I just saw that this is the first time in 88 years that all of the Best Actor nominees are first timers

I’ve only seen Elvis and Maverick so far of the Best Picture nominees so we have some movie watching to do at my house.

I am sad that The Whale did not get nominated because I really think it was better at least than both of those.

Agreed, it’s a good classic summer flick but best picture? Come on, man
