Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 1)

I think the biggest thing that detracted from my viewing experience vis a vis The Menu was my gf and I spending a good half the movie arguing over whether or not the guy playing Tyler was the same guy who played Shane in S1 of The White Lotus.

(It’s not, fyi)

Although that definitely WAS the mom from Who’s The Growing Pain? or whatever that stupid sitcom was in the 80s

Number of movies I want to see on that list: 2

I hadn’t heard anything about Killers of the Flower Moon. Apparently it is Scorsese’s next film and starring Leonard DiCaprio, so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.

ETA: coming out on Apple+. Blah Scorsese on continuing to contribute to the decline of cinema

Tar was the best ghost story I’ve seen in ages.

M3GAN just looks like a reboot of Orphan but without the charm.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey? :drop_of_blood: :drop_of_blood: :drop_of_blood: :drop_of_blood: :drop_of_blood: :drop_of_blood:

Its been 95 years since Winnie the Pooh was first copyrighted so as of 2022 he joined the public domain and is free to use. You can make that Winnie the Pooh porn now. Bambi went public domain the same time as Winnie.

I’m at 1 (Scorsese) but will probably fool myself into wanting to see the Nolan one.

Fully hyped for the final Miyazaki movie though (release planned for July in Japan)

Oppenheimer and John Wick for me, haven’t heard of some of these though so there might be a couple more. Scorsese will get a watch from me too.

Barbie, really? And a what I’m assuming is a live action remake of Little Mermaid

Maybe 1 and late period Scorsese is a push for me. Possibly 0.

Directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. It’s going to be amazing or a magnificent trainwreck, but, either way, I’ll be watching…

That 2001 homage in the trailer :fire::fire::fire:

I think it’s gonna be amazing. Would gladly welcome a satire vis a vis Margot Robbie’s earlier movie I, Tanya.

Yep given this is Gerwig, it’s a lock to be awesome.

Judith Light! I honestly thought she was dead. Then I thought I must’ve thought she was dead because the actor who played her son on Who’s the Boss died, but he hasn’t died! I had to look this all up.

My wife’s cousin is close to her and we used to see her at Passover. She always had a small entourage with her, which her cousin called the Electric Light Orchestra. I proposed the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Wow,

IMDB readers are morons.

You went with Winnie the Pooh porn and not Bambi?

Did you SEE that bunny Thumper got down with?

I want a Bambi revenge thriller.

Early script of Who Framed Roger Rabbit said Judge Doom was the one who killed Bambi’s mother.

What’s good for John Wick…

Oppenheimer should be decent, biopic Nolan >>> action/scifi Nolan for over a decade.

Eta: Just realized this was n=1 sample for biopics, and Dunkirk wasn’t even a biopic so maybe n=0. But I haven’t enjoyed a Nolan movie besides Dunkirk in forever.
