Holy fuck this was intense and so good. About civil war breaking out in France. Highly recommend. Itâs on Netflix.
Top ten of the year for me for sure.
Quo Vadis watch party
lol, Blacula made it into the Criterion Collection. Never seen it, seems like a good time to watch.
I canât believe how much The Blair Witch Project still holds up. The last scene is as equally as terrifying as it was 20 years ago.
Is it streaming somewhere? I get to watch exactly one scary movie per year with MrsWookie, and I usually use it to make sure sheâs seen the classics.
You should pick Hereditary this year
Huh, I donât think I even remember hearing about that one. Iâll keep it in mind, but Iâm also open to other suggestions.
You should both go in without knowing anything about it. Probably the best horror movie made in the past decade. Crazy impressive debut for a young filmmaker
Did you ever see Spielbergâs first movie, Duel?
I saw it as a kid when it was first shown as a made for TV movie. Not horror, but super suspenseful and creepy.
It definitely shook me up as an 8-year old.
Prime video. I would wait until the 25th and watch Barbarian as your 1 if you can. Itâs been my favorite movie of the year. HBO Max
Edit: or Hereditary
two movies Iâve seen recently:
-
Donât Worry Darling - I see why this movie is divisive, but I ended up liking it a lot. Definitely not perfect or a hall of famer but worth it.
-
Moonage Daydream - a LOT of flaws but also overall extremely enjoyable. I think I was expecting more of a chronological narrative and this is absolutely not that, but itâs definitely effective at laying out Bowieâs creative philosophy. Some of the interviews are extremely hard to hear because of the poor recording quality and the music (not sure if this is a mixing issue or a problem with the audio at the theater) and some of the visuals were a little extra IMO. Iâm not a super hardcore Bowie aficionado but Iâm not a dilettante either, there werenât any real surprises here but there were some interviews and performances I hadnât seen before. More than worth it.
In both cases, the theater was completely empty other than me and my wife for DWD and me and my two sons for MD. Highly, highly recommend this viewing experience.
Im very much anticipating Barbarian
