I watched them all again earlier this summer but don’t remember enough to rank them, my memory really sucks. 1 and 6 are towards the top for me, 2 was bad. Don’t know what order I’d put 3, 4, 5 in
Seems to me the missions were quite possible.
Hey I like those too ! (I’ve developed an addiction to Rohmer movies over the last 2 years, highly recommend if you think you can stand French people talking way too much)
Saw this in college.
They would show movies that were well outside their main theater run every Sunday night in one of the big lecture halls.
It was always a bit of a rowdy crowd and EVERYONE was just shitting on this movie the whole time as if it was Mystery Science Theater or something.
One of the most fun movie experiences I’ve ever had.
Movies are weird. Took my daughter to Nope with no problems. Asked her if she wanted to watch Jaws today, and she said “how can a movie about a shark be scary?” She tapped out in less than 15 minutes.
How old?
10
Jaws feels like it can be real. Everyone goes swimming.
Years after everyone else I finally watched The last jedi.
Despite its flaws, I thought it had a lot of cool things in it, and this is the only SW movie I’ve enjoyed watching as an adult. (I haven’t seen R1 (prob should) nor ep9 (won’t)).
The idea of doing the “telepathic” Kylo/Rey conversations as just shot / reverse shot with no additional visual effect is pure genius. Sometimes simple tricks work the best.
Watch it, you must.
I also only watched TLJ of the final trilogy and it was the only Star Wars property ive enjoyed as an adult
TLJ is the only good prequel / sequel. R1 is good but something else.
Gotta recommend The Outlaws, a gritty Asian cop saga very much influenced by the styles of Scorsese and Tarantino. Loosely based on real life events involving a Chinese gang setting up shop in Seoul’s Chinatown. Apparently it’s the first in a trilogy of Korean crime drama movies.
Lifelong Star Wars fan, grew up playing with all the action figures, didn’t even bother seeing Rise of Skywalker. It’s all just bad. R1 was okay but kind of in a cheap sort of way, like let’s make Star Wars gritty and grimdark.
Demolition man needs a sequel.
Just watch Heat from start to finish (another of those old movies I caught all or most of through the years but never just watched).
6/7 out of 10. I can see how it would have been higher rated back when it came out. The plot is secondary to getting to watch Pacino and DeNiro chew scenery. Pacino in particular. Real good contrast in the acting style. DeNiro>Pacino. One acts. The other over acts (but doesn’t pretend otherwise, just not my preference).
Also didn’t realize that Amy Brennamen was the girlfriend. Think I’m going to watch The Old Man this week.
It might be ok but it seems awfully derivative. I guess I’m glad to see its not another Superhero But He’s Actually Bad take, but the Superhero But He’s Actually Retired take isn’t new either.
I think some of you guys are fans of old-timey movies, House of Bamboo is a strong, strong recommend if you like classic noir…Basic crime noir story set in Japan, but what elevates this movie are absolutely gorgeous shots of 1950’s Japan. Big panoramic shots of Post-War Tokyo: slums and temples and gardens and countryside. It just looks incredible. Recommend watching with the subtitles on so you can catch the Japanese dialogue.
Also, it starts off with ninjas robbing a train, and I think that’s basically the best way to start off a movie I’ve ever heard of.
I also just rewatched Jaws and the opening scene I found very scary as well, it has someone screaming “I don’t want to die” while dying, I can definitely see how this would be too much for a kid. (I loved that opening but the rest of the movie didn’t impress me as much as it did when I was 12 yo)
