I’d rather it be a vapid doll story than what you described. Ick.
Why does every movie have to have some greater or deeper political point? I watch movies because I want to be entertained. If I wanted to be informed or educated, I’d watch a documentary. Even when I agree with the points, I find them annoying when they’re so in your face.
Sometimes, I wonder if movie directors and producers forget that they’re in the entertainment industry.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an actor who is so friendly, happy, and upbeat in everyday life and then plays scary villain after scary villain so masterfully.
X Men with Fox was weird. Logan was a classic. I thought Days of Future Past and First class were quite good. The original was great for 2000 but feels old now. But Apocalypse was just bad, first two wolverine were awful. Both dark Phoenix movies sucked.
Legion was very good. Not a movie but the semi prestige TV format let them expand what kinds of stories they could tell and how to tell them. In the same vein, without the prestige aspect, The Gifted was terrible
New Mutants movie was wasn’t terrible, but wasn’t good either, so was wasted.
