FWIW I wouldnât be making this post if you hadnât explicitly mentioned gaslighting, but I think we can all afford to be a little more self-aware re: the terms and accusations weâre throwing around. I havenât been perfect in my engagement on this topic, and Clovis hasnât either. Weâre all just sitting at different stages of Bernie grief (e.g., Anger vs Acceptance) and yelling at each other because we think that divides us. It shouldnât. Pragmatism vs. rage doesnât predict how much grief we had, only how we choose to process it.
That didnât happen.
And if it did, it wasnât that bad.

So I guess if said the part about businesses and PhDs was not only not an attack but actually a lukewarm defense then minds would really get blown out of skulls.

I know plenty of very successful people who canât actually read. Like, they know all the words and know what all the words mean individually, but they just canât pick out the meaning of a sentence somewhere between thirty and eighty percent of the time. Itâs weird as fuck to watch it in real time. A question like, âHow many people will it take you to do this task?â gets interpreted as, âCan you do this task?â and leads to several more emails back and forth. Seeing, âWhy donât you care about these issues? Is it because they donât affect you?â get interpreted as, âYour thoughts on these issues donât count because they donât affect you,â is weird as fuck.
Youâre allowed to have thoughts on issues that donât affect you personally, the world would be even more of a mess if that wasnât true. But itâs weird as fuck when people seem to not care at all about over-incarceration, and I hope itâs because it doesnât affect you and not because you think the people deserve to be in prison.

I hope at some point you (all) realize that itâs our animating factor. A measurable amount of people are going to live in misery and quiet desperation and/or die, who wouldnât have if the primary panned out differently. Biden and Harris and whomever, whatever the fuck else are just reminders of that.

Plus, the opposite is true. M4A is obviously Good and Right because duh, but letâs not pretend that the country is having some sort of egalitarian awakening. Rather, a whole lotta people are feeling the long-term aftershocks of 2008 and are realizing theyâre not gonna be wealthy wealthy and subsequently, whilst they can easily afford housing and food, medical bills can break even the upperest of upper-middle-class. Therefore, Medicare For All!
Whereas a maniac like myself secretly thinks that theoretically itâs utterly insane to talk about universal healthcare before universal housing or universal food.
It makes me pessimistic but thatâs because Iâve never been a full-bore guns-blazing dialectical materialist. People I respect see it as natural and inevitable.

This is true but maybe itâs easier for the right to coalesce since their fights are mostly about power, grift, and which ridiculous conspiracy theory is true among qanon, christianity, and supply-side economics. Whereas the leftâs fights are more ideological and emotional.
