If mods excise a topic to French BBV to be a containment thread, will the containee see post count notifications and have it show up in the list of recommended threads to post in at the end of threads? If not, that would seem to be counterproductive.
Yes. Itās muted by default, but topics become unmuted by any explicit or implicit action indicating a desire to see the them. Notification settings remain when posts are moved, and any tracked or watched thread will show up in all the expected places, including the front page.

Seems like more and more people have been engaging with anachron lately, making those threads pretty unreadable. Just sucks to see a slew of hidden posts with responses to those posts interspersed, itās just not good content.

It wasnāt even as advanced as they were disagreeing with actblue being a pac that donates to liberal causes. They literally thought that the redirect link was a way to cheat people who thought they were giving to black lives matter but it was actually 100% going to joe biden.

Seems like BLM would be well-served to develop a fundraising relationship with the soon-to-be most powerful man in the world who also happens to be highly malleable on the primary issues BLM cares about, and has recently made some very promising statements regarding police/racial justice.
Pretty extreme generalization. For one thing this, and most of your experience with the USA, is people messing around on the inet/social media. For another thing, even here, if you take a poll on Well Named he does not get banned by a pretty large margin.

You also have to add in the fact that he stepped in to mod the forum (i.e. scab) and deflate the exodus protest when we were kicked out of 2+2. That still stings. It was disrespectful to Jman, Wookie, Goofy, et al. as well as the rest of us who were trying to make a statement by leaving.
WN seems like a nice guy. Heās done me favors in the past. But he shouldnāt be surprised if people give him grief over here. He told us all to fuck off long before we started saying it back.

The obvious analogue is appeasement; imo the only argument for appeasement as āa good strategy to deal with Hitlerā is that it gave the UK time to build up its armed forces to actually deal with Hitler. Iām not enough of a history buff to really comment on that argument, but either way it doesnāt cash out well for āGive bigots a cool place to hang out and chatā.
FWIW Hitler had the argument in Germany, won the argument in Germany and we all know what happened after that. All the debate-club kids can tell you winning the argument isnāt the same as being right. Arguing with fascism is legitimising fascism; they donāt even care if they lose the argument, they just want their time at the podium.

At least a couple āno banā people have changed their vote to ābanā on anachro. Itās definitely a majority for ban. I donāt know that that will make the mod action popular or not or if heās banned whether or not a few people will take their balls and go home or maybe his not being banned will result in some people taking their balls and going home.
