So why hasn’t a mod slapped him with a temp ban?
He’s trolling as a centerist because he knows this is a lefty board. Trolling 101. He doesn’t believe any of his own nonsense.
Unfortunately, there is no objective way to assess trolling.
Inso was swiftly contained after posting die–for-the-Dow attitudes, even though to me he seemed genuine about these shitty beliefs.
Because those decisions are left to the community. Hence this discussion.
Is the vote for a temp ban or permanent ban?
Have we ever discussed whether there is a minimum number of votes (and/or a minimum percentage of the vote) needed for a permaban?
I’m getting contradicting answers here. Shouldn’t a mod temp ban first and if behavior continues perma ban?
Notbruce was banned temporarily a few times and is still part of the community.
You don’t post anything like him. He’s a relentless troll who is actively trying to make this place worse. His chief characteristic is sarcasm and you’re nearly at JohnnyTruant levels of earnestness.
NBZ was temp banned, the people revolted, and the mod who did the banning stepped down.
Yea, the should we ban/contain posters for being relentlessly terrible people irl discussion is a different topic.
I was initially in favor of banning NBZ, but I have to say he seems to have toned down his edgelording and I now think he’s good people. Maybe I was wrong about that guy. Still not sure why chez and fuckbox haven’t been shown the door.
I don’t understand how you are all able to so easily connect Old 2+2 screen names to UP screen names.
Yeah I can’t believe we are not getting results when the mods have no power.
I pegged him first. (Publicly anyway.)
Should have probably kept it to myself but here we are. I also would have abstained from voting but did so to neutralize @marty’s accidental YES vote (and to see results).
Can quote the original posts but seems unnecessary.
I’m not going to endorse “good people” just yet, but he’s changed for the better.
We have lots of power, but we also have accountability to the community and to rules. If you want me to ban him, make a case relative to the rules we’ve ratified. We obviously should be skeptical of his good faith, but I haven’t seen a whole lot of demonstrable bad faith, although I also tend not to read his work too closely.
Will you be a mod?
Or your scrolling ability…
Doesn’t sound like the bans are helping, honestly.
anachronistic seems to be really ramping up the trolling to get a reaction, just pure AIDS all over the George Floyd thread trying to bait people into responding.
