Two planted agents (âundercover employeesâ) turn up about 2/3s of the way through who are already in deep enough to be part of the meetings for the âserious shitâ. One explanation is that they were only put in when things got serious, another is that theyâre not used for evidence at earlier meetings where their conduct was borderline. Maybe weâll find out more later. Iâm pretty sure other stories like this have featured paid informants (rather than agents) being planners in any case.
My initial odds were based on that sort of âentrapmentâ being just a standard MO when the FBI deals with cranks, it wouldnât be remarkable and doesnât mean those losers wouldnât have been doing related things anyway.
