Going to be hilarious once Trump is reelected and Garland and a bunch of dem congress critters end up in jail for investigating 1/6 (and doing absolutely nothing about it.)
Garland will have a pretty rock solid defense since all the evidence is that he has and will do absolutely nothing.
I know the Republicans don’t care about Dems and will happily throw some in jail (LOCK HER UP!) but I think some of them are just savvy enough to realize the benefit of having an impotent notional “opponent” to kick around. Letting milquetoast types like Garland continue to do nothing gives Republicans a veneer of legitimacy. The morons in the party might just want to go full Nazi, but probably the optimal strategy for Rs is to seize all the actual power by stealing elections and cracking down on voter rights, then allow people like Garland to have official opposition roles where they will be wildly ineffective.
The savvy ones aren’t going to control levers the next time trump is elected. It’s going to be an even more senile Trump with only revenge on his mind. And a bunch of true lunatics. MTG is the new face of the house gop ffs. And there’s still the 2024 R primaries to really boil the R party down to the true lunatics.

Came here to post this. It’s so fucking stupid and infuriating.
The way it works is that Democrat officials think both Dems and Reps should be charged when they commit crimes, while GOP officials think only Dems should be charged for crimes. So of course the people who inevitably get indicted are the ones they can agree on.

I’m confused, didn’t SCOTUS say this is fine? They even admitted he said the magic words of “separate these ‘contributions’ and the projects you’re paying for” which is a 9-0 slam dunk this is not quid pro quo.
