When I did SERE training, part of it was a mock up POW situation, where we were placed in solitary confinement for 24 hours in a 5x5 cell with a speaker in the ceiling. Through that speaker came a constant stream of things that were intended to break us, turn our minds to putty, make us easy to “interrogate” later. On the playlist were Yoko Ono’s weird orgasm album, someone just reading random numbers for an hour, the first line of the Barney song over and over, and a psychedelic recording of Rudyard Kipling’s “Boots”.
