Major League Baseball (Part 2)

Would be 5 hours under the old rules. Tons of runs and both teams using all of their pitchers

Also think they are more liberal with the pitch clock. Much more tolerable to watch in a playoff game then on May 12th.

Iā€™d like to see them relax the throw over rule for the playoffs.

Well, better than the Yankees winning, at least.

Yea. Iā€™m happy for Mookie. Truly criminal to let someone like that go, it still kills me

Dodgers winning sucks, but Mookie winning and the Yankees losing is still a pretty good result

On one hand it feels a smidge better when the team you lost to wins it all the next round. On the other hand, it really really sucks. On to 2025.

Every commercial break is 3 minutes instead of 90 seconds

16 combined walks doesnā€™t help either.

The World Series headline has already been pushed down ESPNā€™s front page.

Got to go to a few playoff games including game 1 against the padres which was a religious experience. With the arms coming back to the bullpen next year, and whatever off season moves this team makes, Iā€™m very hesitant to be optimistic but I think they have a good shot of another title in the next 3 years. They looked completely dominant and thank goodness, so tired of hearing that mickey mouse ring crap, never wanna hear that shit again.

Now you just need two more in the next 4 years to catch up to big brother.

The giants streak? Hah. The NL west is a lot stronger now. Itā€™s kind of an arms race and very interesting with the padres and dbags also being very competitive teams. There are actually very few crappy teams in the NL, imho, I fully expected to get stomped by the padres and if not them the phillies in the NLCS, instead we got a very cold mets team that was on a heater and ran into a cooler.

I think the giants should aggressively pursue soto. I donā€™t know whatā€™s going on with that team though. It would be very fun for baseball if they became strong contenders in the NL west.

The dodgers though, idk. Iā€™m always used to them positioning themselves very well and then something disastrous happens or they completely shit the bed.

Something is noticeably different to me, in how they basically started the year out without an infield with Mookie at short and lux being such a disappointment there were talks of sending him down - he comes back at full force late in the year, we pick up edman out of absolutely nowhere and suddenly have an infield. mookie being out for a month and the team having to shift around that, with the incredible utility players they have. half the starting pitching staff is injured, and much of the bullpen, and they draw on a seemingly bottomless pitt of salvaged arms like Treinen, btw where the hell has this guy been, or calling up guys who can pass for a few outs here and there. Buellerā€™s rehabbed arm looked awful in July, heā€™s had to relearn his entire repertoire. Shohei having questionable results with RISP to going basically .800 with RISP most of the post season. Freddie fucking freeman, who not only has an ankle sprain but broken rib cartilage which is one of the most painful injuries I can imagine to have swinging a bat. Teoscar hernandez, who before this season no one wanted.

Friedman and Roberts should be commended for whatever they figured out this year. I am used to Friedmanā€™s trade wizardry and ability to find guys out of nowhere, but holy shit. One flaw I felt they had the last 3 years is friedman had a bad habit of coaching from the front office, which is the only thing that could explain Robertsā€™ history of impossibly poor post season decisions. It was either that or roberts is the dumbest coach to ever do it, which also clearly wasnā€™t true. I felt he was allowed to run the games how he wanted to run them this year, which, apart from a few tiny criticisms, he did almost flawlessly.

Anyway I know people hate LA and all that so I am sorry to gush lest it offend, but, there is a lot to be excited about not just for this team, but for baseball. The japan ratings were apparently pretty incredible, and a big japanese ad spend has been found on dodgers away games. Pretty neat. Excited for next season, I want to see if the orioles realize their league is terrible and if they can make it to the ALCS they have a shot. Just a baseball geekā€™s 2c.

Also rip fernando. Way to go fox/MLB for like never even once mentioning that. Felt the broadcast and overall narrative was pulling for the yanks to an embarrassing degree, which made this feel sweeter. Leaning into the anti LA hate now I guess.

Yankees fans somehow did the impossible and found a way to give permission to Pads fans to root for you guys.

Congrats.
