Major League Baseball (Part 1)

Did you listen? There was real venom in his voice when he said that word. That wasn’t a slip.

well I really hate cigarettes

edit–well in whatever context that was it wasn’t a slip but I didn’t catch the venom. Not that it matters. I’m of the opinion we should be teaching people to shrug off words rather than getting offended though. Maybe that’s not right idk. Hard to change old people.

Aside from the obvious San Fran, I’m curious which other cities he thinks are the gay ones.

It’s also the context of what he said - “one of the fag capitols of the world.” He was talking about it in a derogatory way, even without using the slur. He then started his apology off by talking about being a “man of faith” and never apologized or even addressed the LGBTQ community, just that he was caught using the slur.

well obviously whenever they go into “I’m a person of faith” on their apology they’re full of it.

I can simultaneously not be offended and also call someone a bigoted piece of shit, a distinction that seems lost on the whole “Everyone acts so OFFENDED all the time!” crowd.

I don’t have a lot of sympathy since he was born with a silver spoon just like Joe Buck and Chip Caray. I’m fine with giving his job to some guy who actually worked his way up and didn’t cling on to daddy’s coattails.

Reds made me a little money tonight. Well actually going against Matt Harvey made me money.

IMO, it wasn’t about some lingo slipping out. There were several seconds of silence before and after the comment, and it wasn’t one word that slipped; it was a fully-formed, independent thought.

Lost in all this stupid Thom shit is the fact that Trevor Bauer pitched his second 7-inning CGSO of the season, had 9 Ks, and now has a 0.68 ERA.

ahem.

I used that word all the time as a teenager. I stopped saying it probably 20 years ago. And if a guy that speaks for a living doesn’t have an internal filter not to say a word like that on a hot mike, maybe being a professional announcer isn’t the job for him. I have no sympathy. Actions have consequences and there are a million qualified people that can take his place in the booth.

A kid making minimum wage at McDonald’s would be fired for saying that. Why should this clown get preferential treatment?

All this. That’s the way it’s always been.

Key West?

If anything then Tatis should be furious at the pitcher for throwing balls on the first 3 pitches instead of strikes down the middle. Play the game the right way, Texas.

He hit another HR today and they beat the Rangers again (on a Machado walk-off grand slam in the 10th)

Lol of course Curt Schilling defends this guy.

He was already in trouble for dropping that word. Now he gets an endorsement from Curt Schilling? I don’t see how he’s going to survive that.
