Major League Baseball (Part 1)

For decades, the “conventional wisdom” has been that the origin of the high five occurred between Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke of the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on October 2, 1977, the last day of the regular season.

Wtf?

I think there was a 30 for 30 on it. Glenn Burke was the first openly gay pro athlete in the US I believe. Although he didn’t out himself.

Man what happened to him.

He kept on being a loose cannon? Hasn’t he always been this way?

So, are those who champion Rose being on a HOF ballot also going to champion the same for Puig? Note that Puig hasn’t been accused of betting on baseball, while Rose admitted doing so.

ETA: I’m being a fool, as Puig didn’t play enough years to qualify anyways. My bad.

Does Puig have anywhere close to HoF numbers?

puig’s career was likely already over anyway

No. I was asking about Puig being on a HOF ballot. Rose has never been on a ballot.

Good article about MiLB players organizing with MLBPA a couple of months ago.

The Benefits of Direct Action

… Players started to post their repugnant team meals on social media, and they took part in demonstrations like one in Brooklyn, where players from both the New York Mets’ and the Philadelphia Phillies’ minor league organizations wore wristbands that read #FairBall on the field to support minor league rights. MLB was compelled – forced, really – to change its ways and supply housing.

Trivia time!

A new perfect game thrower (Matt Cain) became HOF eligible this year. What percentage of perfect game throwers have been elected to the HOF?

That’s a good one. Matt Cain is a sure bet. Okay, not really. I will go with 7%.

None of the Pt.Loma HS alums that have pitched perfect games are in the HOF,

I would guess maybe 20%, surely some HOFers would have a perfect game.

My estimate as well.

I know Cy Young and Jim Bunning are both in the HOF.
