Major League Baseball (Part 1)

I hope they checked his hotel room before releasing a public statement. But it is troubling.

Although I bet in the 1930s players not showing up for games happened all the time.

LOL at TBS slowly scanning past 5O+ of the cardboard cutouts of fans behind home plate, and every face was white.

A later shot from further back shows a couple of Black cutouts in the section on the other side of home plate.

Guy comes back from two years of injuries, is finally healthy and covid hits.

Might be enough to get an unstable person to kill themselves.

I guess this shouldn’t be based on how much you personally like an athlete, but hope it’s a false alarm with Votto.

Without doing any research, I’m going to WAG “no”.

Players are expected to show up several hours before the game. In the 1930s team hotels were almost always within walking distance of the stadium. AFAIK just not showing up has always been a “third rail” for team sportsball (and live entertainment in general). Anecdotally, star players not showing up has always been news.

Let’s hope everyone is ok.

Very sketchily sourced article about mlb drinking during games that I came across while looking for something else.

Oh good…

wait what?

Either a really good orgy or he has chosen to be absent. Or dude massively overslept.

It’s ok, you’re allowed to love him.

prayers to whatever maple-syrup-loving Canadian god is listening that Joey Votto is ok

It would be hilarious if Cespedes quit and didn’t bother to tell the Mets.

I hate it when i can’t find my Cespedes.

My sources say he told the players he was opting out but not management

Trout should do the same. Stay home with his wife and new baby. Angels aren’t going anywhere.

Cespedes probably never coming back.

The shitty thing for Trout is he is undoubtedly one of baseball’s all time greats and losing seasons in his prime is going to affect where he lands in the historical leaderboards.
