Not just that but he was a major asshole staring down players and instantly ejecting Castellanos who had only been tossed once before in his career.
I was listening to this on Reds Radio (lounging in the pool brag) and they had a heck of a good time. Ump has a notorious wide zone but missed this one pitch badly. Fairly consistent otherwise.
Ex MLB pitcher Jeff Brantley is part of the broadcast team and I like his work.

Mets got moved to Sunday Night Baseball last night so they got into San Francisco for tonight’s game with about 15 hours to get to the hotel, sleep, and come prep for the game against the Giants’ ace.
Jeff Brantley is great. Not sure I would call this umpire consistent though. Those locations way out of the zone that he calls balls and strikes are pretty ridiculous, and he called four pitches balls that were entirely inside the box.
Cubs look like one of those ancient classic rock bands where every member has been replaced by some fan from a cover band.
Your disrespect of Frank Schwindel will not be tolerated.
I have no idea if this is one of the new replacement Cubs or a replacement member of Styx.
Bump.
not only did Votto hit his 2000th tonight, he also hit his 2001st…in the same inning.
lol cubs
Send this guy to the glue factory. Even watching him muck up a brilliant pitching performance in a 12-0 game is demoralizing.
Close the book on Hembree:

HYACHACHACHA
Pro tip: Don’t open the book. Ever.
6th inning I was sweating the o/u 9.5
yeah, this came out during the Reds Cubs game today. I was already stoked about this when Votto hit his 2000th. Whew, what a day.
Cubs have lost 12 straight scores of 14-5, 14-10, 17-4, 10-0
if I cared this would suck but I stopped awhile ago for some reason
that guy from styx has actually been better than rizzo was this year so far
Concepcion with waaaay more hits than I would have thought. Larkin just barely beat him.
I’m still mad he’s not in Cooperstown.
From Mark Sheldon:
Before Hall of Famer Barry Larkin, Concepcion manned shortstop for Cincinnati for all 18 years of his career – much of it during the era of the “Big Red Machine.” The club’s all-time defensive bWAR leader at 21.4, Concepcion was part of teams that won five division titles, four NL pennants and consecutive World Series in 1975-76. He was a nine-time All-Star and won five Gold Glove Awards, second most for the club behind Johnny Bench’s 10.
A two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Concepcion is third in Reds history in hits (2,326), doubles (389) and steals (321) and fifth in runs scored (993). He was one of the best of his era, and his numbers are on par or eclipse those of other Hall of Fame shortstops like Ozzie Smith, Pee Wee Reese and Phil Rizzuto.
Man, I have pages of Concepcion cards from back in the day. I guess he was affordable and I was the sucker (as a 12-yr-old, mind you) who kept thinking he was really really good.
All my cards are probably worthless from how I stored them, but I still think it’d be cool if he HOFed.
