And more opportunities for fans to watch a third baseman throw 45mph fastballs!
Yeah. I wish that part of the game would go away. It was cute at first, but I would have liked to have asked LaRussa what the entertainment value is in watching batters take 3-0 pitches from position players. Its ridiculous that we have to watch that. Why can’t real pitchers throw 45mph pitches if they’ve quit on the game?
Just let teams resign. It’s so much more embarrassing to make them play.
David Bell shouldn’t be anywhere near a major league clubhouse. Completely clueless nepotism hire. Tie game, must-win, 3 new relievers and 1 back from IR who all have sub-5 ERAs and…
I only recently noticed how good Buddy Bell was as a player. I started watching baseball as a kid in the mid 80s and he was around but wasn’t really a noteworthy player at that point. I mostly think of Bell as a kind of stupid manager, but that dude had a 66 WAR career with 2500 hits. That’s pretty good!
The irony being that Joe Morgan the analyst probably would not have hated Joe Morgan the player but he certainly would have underrated the hell out of him
If this is correct, the only missed call doesn’t even look like a missed call
Reds play-by-play guy:
“When the questions about removing Sonny Gray on 88 pitches and the decision to bring in Hembree and Amir Garrett started, Bell quickly switched the focus to the offense stating that this loss was due to a lack of hitting.”
Reds color guy:
“Some people will mildly agree with that, and other people will vehemently disagree with that.”
What an ass clown of a manager.
He’s often grouped with the likes of Darrell Evans, Graig Nettles, and Ken Boyer when the sabermetrically-inclined complain about the under-representation of third basemen in the HOF.
corbin burns struck out 10 cubbies in a row. he got 11 strikeouts in 5 innings on 54 pitches.
Todd Hicthner my man!
wonder if 20-8 is a Scorigami
not even close. you have to go 20-17 for a scorigami
Another great edition of Profiles in Baseball Managing here. Top 10 with Moustakas having made the final out in 9th. Moose coming off a nearly season-long heel injury and is even slower than usual. Lorenzen (fast runner) pitched Bot 9 for the hold and could stay in on a switch, but he’s also coming off an injury that was caused by running the bases the last time he attempted it. And then there’s whoever left on the bench. Bell goes with…
Moustakas
reds used Lorenzen tonight alright. that guy is awesome. good hitter too
This ump is a fucking dumpster fire. Granting time as the pitcher is coming to the plate is a good way to get someone killed.
Holy shit. The anti-Angel Hernandez.
