Major League Baseball (Part 1)

Intentional walk then first pitch single?

First pitch: ground ball to short, wild throw to first, runners advance to second and third. Next batter intentionally walked with no pitches thrown.

Close?

Giants-Brewers tied at 2 entering the 10th. Final score Giants 9 Brewers 6 in 11. Tell me again how the runner on second rule is shortening extra inning games.

I looked. Couldn’t have possibly gotten 4 and 5.

Close enough. First pitch single to outfield. Bad throw to cutoff man allows advancement from first to second, IBB to Belt to load bases for Posey, who sends a single up the middle past the pulled in defense. Pretty much the worst possible extra innings srart

So in the KC-STL game, a reliever comes out and faces two batters. Then there’s a rain delay. Will he have to come back out to face a third hitter? What happens anyway if a manager decides to change pitchers in violation of the rule? What’s the punishment?

Obviously no punishment since any pitcher can fake an injury at any time.

What if they don’t fake an injury? Like if they just come out with a new pitcher after rain delay. Or just pull a guy…cause why not?

I lost interest after this

Umpires have discretion to bypass the three batter rule for a player safety/injury reason, so certainly after the delay they’d just cite it as being dangerous for the pitcher to continue no big deal.

The other question seemed to be what would happen if a manager tried to replace a pitcher who hadn’t faced three batters outside of a delay situation? Well I guess it’d be similar to like, what if a team that was ahead just refused to pitch anymore or leave the dugout? I guess if they didn’t comply with the rule the umpire would eventually just call the game a forfeit?

Heard on sports talk radio earlier today, that there’s a metric that rates pure stuff, and this youngster ranks 6th in all of MLB

Patino?

Ok nvm. Just checked the box score.

Man I hate the extra innings baserunner rule so much. 3-3 game ends 8-6 after 11.

But it makes games go so much shorter.
